I just got an email titled, Recent Order has Been Delivered, from someone with just a regular name and numbers with gmail domain (example, JaneDoe47331@gmail.com but a more normal sounding name). It had a picture attached that I did not open.

I assume this was same scam with a malicious attachment, but I can find no confirmation that this is a known scam.

What are people thoughts? I tagged the email spam then deleted it without opening the picture/attachment. I'll do virus scans. Any material risk?

I see these almost every day at work. Probably not a huge risk as long as you don't click on anything. Delete these when you see them and move on. That said, keep regular backups, just in case. Malware and hardware failures will always be things.

It was a scam. Maybe it was malware. maybe phishing.
On work laptop you probably should report it to IT Dept. In company where I work we have some additional button in Outlook to do that.

On private e-mail do what you just did: flag as spam then delete.
