The internal updater almost never works here on my end.
I have three email clients, and eM Client is by FAR the worst of them when it comes to internal updates...

FYI: I do not know if you realized it or not, but that release was for macOS, not Windows...

No problems my friend. I used to post about all of the discrepancies with their updates (different versions available online and through the internal updater), but since these discrepancies are apparently "normal" for them, I just gave up and now only post the updates....

Some miracles happened:
I got the email notification.
And, even more a miracle, the internal updater worked this time.

I am glad that these "miracles" happened for you .
On my end, I did not receive an email (never have), and I never try the internal updater anymore as I just go ahead and download the new installer and do an "over the top* update.

 

I maybe lucky but I always use internal updater, it never failed so far since over three years.

 

Do they not have a portable version? I only see the installer version on their site.

 

I wondered about this some time ago (re: portability), their reply at the time was no.

I'd never use it then. I have so many accounts on my Thunderbird including iCloud email which requires a lot of steps to generate a random password and I format my laptop a lot so that's a big show stopper.

Why eM Client server downloads emclient-v9.0.1708.msi file. This is an older version not latest.
