Exactly I would not use it. I have Mullvad anyway.

Edge has restored the ability to delete search engines,it seems that this is not possible with Bing.
As reported elsewhere by another user.
But I can not verify because I have removed Bing, just bought the pc:

There seems to be no way to remove Bing as the default search engine used on new tab pages. I've removed it like you did, and even disabled two Bing-related flags, but it refuses to go away.

    Edit

    Resolved!

I got rid of Bing as per your screenshot, set the two flags as per my above post, then went to:

    edge://settings/search

...scrolled to the bottom and set to address bar instead of search box. Now when I open a new tab page, the search box uses my preferred search engine (google) instead of Bing.

BTW, I'm using latest Edge Version 101.0.1210.32 (Official build) (64-bit) in Linux MX-21.

    P.S.

The article below has been updated:

    https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/firefox-chromium.html

According to the author it seems more advantageous to use chrome-based browsers even in Linux.

Thank you for the link :)

The seccomp-bpf Linux has been around for a number of years, and chrome-based browsers certainly do take advantage of it for enhanced security.

The rare cases when I do run Firefox, it is contained by Apparmor profiles, as well as is Edge browser.

    You're welcome,

although it was @Sampei Nihira who got the ball rolling, otherwise I'd never have pursued the solution in the first place.

I think that Sampei Nihira was talking for the search engine used in the address bar (look again his screenshot) and you for the search engine used on new tab pages!

That's why his was asking afterwards: "How did you do it?"

Better disable this new setting (enabled to default):

I'm using Edge Version 101.0.1210.47 in Win7 64-bit, and I don't see that "share browsing data with other windows features" in my Profiles settings.

Is it found anywhere else in Settings or is it because of Win10/Win11? :doubt:

    @JRViejo

Are you using an OS other than W.10/11?

Probably in W.7 it is not possible to share data.;):)

Checked my wife's laptop, Win10, and that Edge setting is there. Disabled! :)
