IMO, Gibiru is an excellent rival to any of the aforementioned search engines.

Hmm... now that you mention it, yes, I sort of skipped that over since the first choice was Google. That mojeek search looks interesting, a bit slow from here though.

As jokes go, I'll have to concede that's a good one as in not in the slightest bit funny sort of way. Let's both share a laugh while others (needn't bother) chase down a non-existent search engine. And while Gibiru's UI search results aren't as pleasing to the eye as, granted, Start Page or Qwant; both the quality of informational and substantive hits are on par with the aforementioned. E.g., as with Start Page and Qwant; Gibiru will provide equally the ample information on, let's say, "green fairy's tooth" (James Joyce-- Ulysses), "quantum physics," or "atheism" for starters with a few additional hits that neither of the previous comparisons will offer. As always, and as much as opinions actually matter, to each their own. All by the way, and to remain on topic, I'll venture it's a safe bet that DuckDuckGo's browser will have a way more vast market share than anything "guguru" will be cranking out anytime ever. :p

Twitter is a great example that you add its engine to your list.

This is what I also wonder about, what's taking so long? Perhaps because this browser is sort of built from scratch?

"DuckDuckGo’s Privacy Browser Finally Lands on Desktop [Beta for Mac]...

The browser uses DuckDuckGo’s private search engine as the default option, blocks ad trackers on each site you visit, and shows how many have been blocked. It also includes a built-in option for saving passwords, and it incorporates the company’s recently launched email protection, which blocks hidden trackers in the emails you are sent...

While browser extensions can help you avoid cookie pop-ups, DuckDuckGo’s browser automates the process...

A fire emoji button—familiar to users of DuckDuckGo’s mobile apps—allows cookies and other data to be erased with a couple of clicks....

DuckDuckGo’s Mac app is being released as a beta that people can access by signing up to a private waiting list..."

I haven't read the article yet, but they got to be kidding. This stuff is taking way too long and now you even have to sign up to a waiting list? Not a great start and I'm guessing I won't be liking the browser if it's too minimalistic.

    @chrisretusn

Have used DDG for quite awhile, but have become disquieted about continuing to use, when I chanced on this video:

    I'm leaving DuckDuckGo, and here's what I picked... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma2qDOkvaJo

You gonna be shocked at my choice of search engine. I used Brave for a while, but at the time the search results was limited to one page and not much results to boot. That said I just checked Brave again, wow quite a change, there is not a "<- Previous Next ->" option at the bottom of the page. I may start using it again after some testing with thing I search for.I was hoping there would be an option to select number of search item per page, no such luck. Google used to offer up to 100. I don't know if it still does, have not used Google in ages.

Now for the shocked part, I am using Yandex. Yes you heard that right, Yandex. I find it very good at coming up with results I am looking for.

I've been using Brave (new and improved) that last few days. It's a keeper.

I like minimalistic. In olden days, I used a text-based browser because (before uB-O) huge banner ads with scantly clad dancing girls gave me blepharitis. :geek:

I liked Chrome a lot, when it first came out, before Google repeatedly tweaked it with increasingly invasive stuff. I do hope that DDG's browser really is sweet & simple.

No, but your Microsoft account is surely also linked to your IP address. I'm sure they can connect these at will. I don't expect it to be more private than any other browser.

Yes minimalistic can sometimes be good, but not always. My browser is the my most used apps and I really need a couple of basic features built-in without having to download tons of extensions like with Firefox and Chrome. That's why I like Vivaldi so much, and don't forget you don't actually have to use ALL of the functions.

Yes, but it's like having a tent full of helpers that you *might* want at one time or another -- a plumber, electrician, doctor, automobile mechanic, fireman, policeman, etc. Handy folks, at times, but why would I want them hanging around every day when I don't need them, eating my corn chips, drinking my root beer, & taking up room?

    lol

BTW using DDG in vivaldi do not change behavior of DDG not filtering certain search results, because DDG-Server do searching, not Vivaldi.

I know what you mean, but in this case, the extra features are not a hindrance, well except for that the ''Settings'' section might feel a bit cluttered but it does have a search function. You should give Vivaldi a try and tell me what you think. Especially the tabs and bookmark management is very good. If DuckDuckGo lacks this stuff, it's a no go for me.

@Rasheed187 -- If you like Vivaldi so much, it must be grrreat! Surely I will give it a trial whenever I decide to switch browsers again (I switch rather often).

Yes, especially the tab stacking feature is great, especially if you open many tabs, let's say 50+.
