Hi! Should this one work with Windows 7 x64 SP1 ? I am having an error when installing it under WIndows 7, in relation to a file called : api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll.Error : "This program can t start because api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll is missing from your computer." On the other hand, runing it under 1903 and newer W10 builds, it seems to be interesting.I like the traffic graph When will you add granularity to the applications rules ? Inbound , Outbound, ports ? Used it for a month on some computer and it looked robust, no crashes and such.
You've to install thelatest Visual C++ x86 (32-bit!) redistributable. https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe I started to work on this feature right now. I hope to provide a working version in 2-3 months.
Thank you for your feedback ! Under Windows 7 x64, instalation of the latest Visual C++ x86 package, did not do the trick. It still shows the error mentioned already, but now i see another cmd window showing another error.I can see a Start Service Failed error screen, Error=Cannot Start the service, Error Code =127.It says the service was created succesfully though. It s good news if you are already working on the granularity of the apps rules. It would be a complete product then, in my view. Keep up the good work. Under Windows 10 latest builds seems to be installing and working. It s easy to control by new users too.
Can you please copy all text from the screen or just do a screenshot? There should be an error message, why it cannot start the service. Also which version of Windows 7 x64 do you use? Maybe you have the URL to download it?
Thank you again for the fast response. This is the error text: "[SC] OpenService FAILED 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service. [SC] OpenService FAILED 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service. Error Code = 127 Press any key to continue . . . " It s Windows 7 x64 SP1 build 7601 Are there any specific Windows services that should be ON for the firewall to work/install properly ?
Please install the FortFirewall-3.5.5-windows-x86.exe on Windows 7 x64. https://github.com/tnodir/fort You're trying to install the FortFirewall-3.5.5-windows10-x86_64.exe, but it's for Windows 10 2004+.
Thank you for the fast response. It seems that using the "FortFirewall-3.5.5-windows-x86.exe" on Windows 7 x64 did the trick. It installed properly and it is working now. For some reason i ve only tried "x64" versions of Fort Firewall on Windows 7
tnodir, I simply like the work you ve done on Fort Firewall. I d be ready to install/test "enhanced" Fort Firewall builds even if the stability is not aquired 100%. Do not hesitate to share alpha/beta builds, i personally may install them. Will there be something like an "install mode" or "entertainment mode" available in the "enhanced" version of the Fort Firewall, having in mind ithat nteractivity with the user will increase ?.
Sure. Yes, after "Interactive mode" implementation. To clarify: - "Entertainment mode" is used to not show alerts when some program is full-screen. Right? - What is "install mode"?
Yes, "entertainment mode" would be -> no alerts when something is running full screen.Outpost Firewall Pro implementation, as an example, is quite straightforward regarding this. "Install Mode" is a mode that minimizes the amount of alerts when the user installs some trusted app.For example, when you install some app like origin, opera or something like that, they would spawn all kind of procesess that require connectivity for updating and such.Practically it would be a temporary allow rule, for whatever runs and was initiated by the user, at that moment. Spyshelter or WFC have this mode, most probable Comodo too. This option could be available for the user to choose, at a first pop-up for a connection. This could be added along some interactive option, to make a more general rule or to select some preset/build-in type of rule. Of course, these are required when interactivity is enabled. LE: I have a small bug to report for the 3.5.5 version of Fort Firewall(the "x64" firewall version).I ve observed it on WIndows 10 Pro x64 latest build. When the computer recovers from hibernation the taskbar icon goes away. The service seems to be running though.
Are there any log files in the <Profile>/logs/ folder? Let me check the hibernation.. Hm.. it works fine on Windows 11 x64. Let me check on Windows 10 x64..
My bad, the exact sleep state is S3,. So the taskbar icon goes out after wake up from S3, as per windows sleep states enabled report. There are some dump files.
Can you please send the entire compressed logs/ folder to nodir.temir@gmail.com ? Or share in some dropbox.
Hibernation file can be used in S3 too by Hybrid sleep [1]. I frequently use the sleeping on my notebook with Win11. But I don't use "Traffic Graph". Anyway, it looks like I have to add some checks in critical paths of program [2]: "To run properly on a power-managed computer, ... network management applications must use both ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED and ES_CONTINUOUS when they process events.". [1] https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/power/system-power-states [2] https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winbase/nf-winbase-setthreadexecutionstate
Fort Firewall v3.5.6 UI: Programs: Show time icon for auto-block apps (Remove "Bl." column). UI: Options: Update app's group after removing. UI: Use SetThreadExecutionState() to prevent OS sleep during events processing. UI: Update SQLite to v3.38.1
Fort Firewall v3.5.7 Support IPv6. UI: Default User specific Logs path is "%LocalAppData%/Fort Firewall/logs". UI: RpcManager: Try to reconnect to service on error. UI: Update SQLite to v3.38.5 Driver: Reliably wait for worker thread on unload.
I've added support for IPv6 in the v3.5.7, but I can't fully test it. Tested in a virtual machine with local addresses only. If anyone uses IPv6, then please test it!
Fort Firewall v3.5.8 UI: Add "Filter Mode", instead of "Block/Allow All". UI: Statistics: Traffic: Fix "Clear All" to not duplicate active programs. Driver: Add errors tracing to system event log.
