Happy Monday! Here we go, an enthusiastic review of Plasma 5.24, the latest release and LTS edition of the KDE desktop environment, covering vanilla testing inside KDE neon, look and feel, customization, classic theme, accent colors, HD display scaling, package management, applications, media playback, network connectivity, stability, performance, responsiveness, battery life, consistency, some small problems, and more. Enjoy.

    Thanks.
But why would you want an all-in-one machine?

In the article, you wrote "The system area uses the new icon layout for its categories, which isn't bad, but feels a bit too "modern", as in too much like Windows 11."
Does the 'Configure' menu offer an option to set classic view instead of the new icon layout? Or something in System Settings?

    Slackware64-current upgraded to 5.24 Feb 24, 2022.

I likes it. The new Plasma System Monitor has been in Plasma for a while now. I' gotten used to it and starting to like it. Since I normally using it to like at processes, I have it set to start up with Processes page. (plasma-systemmonitor --page-name Processes)

    Thanks for the info!
I've edited the source list and added the gpg key, but how do you actually install the KDE desktop?
By simply running "sudo apt install task-kde-desktop"?
    Forgive the naive question.

Manjaro is on Plasma 5.24 now, and I have an issue that sometimes clicking on an icon in the panel causes the wrong program to come up. For instance, let's say I just paused my music player. Now when I click on Application Launcher, the music player will pop up. Only a second click will give me Application Launcher.

I'll have to make an assumption here since I only use KDE but I'm 'assuming' this guide relates to systems that already have the KDE desktop installed.

    Thanks.
Indeed. I tried to install KDE after having added the newer plasma upgrade, but got lots of errors and had to rebuild from scratch.
Not a big issue, I often install new distros. :)

    Hi,
Just installed EndeavourOS on my main PC (dual boot windows 10).
It booted to OS within 3 sec. I was like wtf.
I do have JBL Quantum Duo speakers. For some reason, i can really hear sound quality improvement when playing MP3 on EndeavorOS vs Windows. Crispy sound.
Kinda funny EndeavourOS detected my JBL Quantum ones, not a standard stereo chip ****.
Very, very happy with this OS(fingers crossed)
