The bigger problem with the system tray approach is if you close one sandbox whilst leaving another open (typically my browser) there's no way of knowing it's been cleared.

First question: Is this thread for the Sandboxie-Plus from the following website? Is the Github one the same as the following website?

    Downloads | Sandboxie-Plus

Now for my issue. I was using Sandboxie Classic (latest version) and had Firefox forced to sandbox. I forgot to take Firefox out of the sandbox before I upgraded Firefox to the latest version. I then ran the Firefox update out of the Sandbox. Now Firefox won't open sandboxed. It will open outside of the sandbox.

    I then did the following:

    1. Uninstalled Firefox, rebooted, installed firefox. Problem not resolved.
    2. Uninstalled Sandboxie Classic while keeping the Sandboxie configuration stuff. Installed Sandboxie Classic. Problem not resolved.
    3. Uninstalled Sandboxie Classic while keeping the Sandboxie configuration stuff. Rebooted.
    4. Installed Sandboxie-Plus 1.0.08. Problem not resolved.
    5. Uninstalled Sanboxie-Plus 1.0.08 while not keeping anything. Rebooted. Deleted the old Sandboxie sandbox and program folder.
    6. Installed Sandboxie-Plus 1.0.10. Problem not resolved.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue.

    Thanks in Advance.

Curious, did you try Refresh Firefox?
Curious, did you remove (rename) Firefox user profile/s?
Uninstalling Firefox does not remove your user profile, which includes personal information such as bookmarks, passwords and cookies. If you also want to remove this information, you should remove the folder that contains your Firefox profile, which is stored in a separate location from the Firefox program.

Yes. I refreshed Firefox and no improvement.

I missed the app folder part and this morning I also deleted the user profile after uninstall and no improvement.

I just completed rolling back an Image of the System Drive to early January 2022 and that did not work. I am now thinking that maybe I haven't used Firefox on that PC for some time now (maybe many months). Maybe the problem goes way back and I didn't catch it. I have primarily been using Edge on that PC since it seems to have better compatibility with Citrix.

Maybe I should just abandon Firefox on that PC rather than rolling back an image to a year or more. I have images since I built that PC several years ago.

Maybe install Chrome as a backup browser? Does Chrome work well with Sandoxie products?

    Thanks in Advance.

Curious, do you run a dedicated discrete Firefox sbox?
Did you delete that dedicated discrete Firefox sbox?
Maybe, that Firefox sbox is still hanging around.
Just delete that sbox. Sbox will recreate as needed.
C: -> Sandbox -> Firefox (or whatever your sbox name is).
    for example:
    png_14014.png
Since, you uninstalled Sandboxie. Did you delete Sandbox -> User -> Firedox sbox from C: (or wherever your sbox/s are located)?
Edge | Chrome | Firefox sbox's okay, for me.

Right after doing the Firefox update outside the sandbox, if the Firefox sandbox had contents, is likely your solution was to delete contents (this is for you to keep in mind for the future). As a rule, if a sandbox contains contents of activity of a browser, after updating the browser (outside the sandbox), the old sandbox content should be deleted before running the updated browser in it.

I see you did a lot of uninstalling but not mention "delete". If Plus allows you to unistall without deleting all contents in all sandboxes, look for the old Firefox sandbox and try deleting contents. Or, just create a new sandbox and try running Firefox in the new sandbox. Keep settings on default when you first test.

I gave things another try. I will only list basic steps.

    Uninstalled Firefox
Uninstalled Sandboxie (Not saving stuff like ini, etc.)
    Rebooted.
Deleted both the Sandboxie programs folder and the C:\Sandbox folder
Deleted the Mozilla Firefox Programs Folder.
Deleted all instances of Mozilla %APPDATA%, Program Data, etc. Basically, all Mozilla Files/Folders except a dll in a Microsoft Office Mozilla folder.
    Rebooted.
Installed Mozilla Firefox X64 (Latest version).
    Rebooted.
Installed Sandboxie-Plus 1.0.10 (No changes to default install settings).
    Rebooted.
Firefox will run outside of a Sandbox, but still will NOT run in the default Sandboxie-Plus sandbox.

    Thanks in Advance.

Curious, do you restart (not Shut down) machine after all that un/re-install?
Can you create & try new default sbox named Firefox.
Curious, how are you calling Firefox sbox?
    I'm 1.0.11.

    Yes, I restarted the PC.
I created a new sandbox called Firefoxbox
    I upgraded from 1.0.10 to 1.0.11.

Firefox still won't run sandboxed. Edge will runs OK sandboxed (both the Defaultbox and the newly created Firefoxbox.).

Did you check these ini files were deleted at uninstall and restart?

C\Windows\Sandboxie.ini (You have to scroll right down the page for it)
    C\Users\name here\appdata\local\sbie plus\sbie.ini

If you are using Eset Internet Security, disable Banking and Payment protection. That solved problem on my system when I was using SBIE with EIS.

    Thank You.

Typically, I only use ESET NOD32 Antivirus on my PC's. I don't remember ever purchasing ESET NOD32 Internet Security for that PC. However, that PC has ESET NOD32 Internet Security. I just noticed the shortcut on my Desktop. I turned off Banking and Payment Protection and now Firefox works OK in the Default Sandbox.

    Problem resolved.

Update: I just looked back in my ESET purchase history and it looks like I purchased the Internet Security version.

Has anyone noticed the latest Firefox 110 (with the latest Sandboxie Classic) sometimes has a brief blank white screen on startup? It's not a huge deal but it's somewhat jarring. I have been trouble shooting it for hours (I have too much time on my hands) and even completely reinstalled FF but the only way to get rid of it is to go back to FF 109.

Thanks! I reinstalled 110 sandboxed and I disabled that Firefox gpu sandbox setting (changed from 1 to 0) and it did not fix the white screen issue. So it must be something else that Mozilla added. My i5-12400 is very fast loading programs so it really leaps out at me when I get that white screen. Unsandboxed 110 starts 100%.

I don't know why you're using a very old sbie thread for this, there are more recent versions of Sandoxie. But @DavidXanatos is aware of the gpu sandboxing issues in Firefox 110 and will soon be releasing a new sandboxie version. That's discussed in more recent threads.

My mistake. I thought the last post was Feb 2023, but it's 2022. I did a date search for wilderssecurity & sandboxie, and this is the newest thread that came up.

I'm wondering about the new version number is 1.0.10 - this version was there in the beginning of 2022, and i thought that after 1.7.2 and so on the next after maximum 1.9.x will be 1.10.x
Am i wrong here, or is the new version now the same as 1 year ago?

Link to 1.0.10 from February 2022:
    https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/1.0.10

EDIT: Oh sorry, i just saw that this thread is the same as from beginning of 2022 - i thought is was a new version now in 02/2023. Sorry!
