And will become even more attractive with the coming introduction of Manifest V3.

    Yes, that's a good point.

I'm only really planning on running it in Ubuntu. Chrome and Bugvaldi are too problematic.

Chrome and Bugvaldi won't remember my passwords on Ubuntu. So using them is hard work if I have to constantly use 2FA every time I want to post a comment somewhere.

not exactly the equivalent though. the number of websites you can add to the top sites is limited to a few. also i only use portable browsers on dt and brave has no portable version. and i use speed dial only on mobile browsers.

IDK. I don't really use the feature. I'm using the repo version of Brave. I don't think there is a portable.

Thanks for your elaboration. I pondered to give Brave a try but speed dials are essential for me, in fact I don't use bookmarks but speed dials instead (grouped, alone) which I sync across platforms/devices. I will stick with Opera which suits me best for years, yeah the only downside is iOS where Opera can't be synced yet.

    Day two.

    I've added some extensions.

I still haven't needed an adblocker! I never thought I'd be able to surf without uBO.:thumb:

Yes, but by default Brave uses these filterlists anyhow.

I agree that the built-in adblocker is good. However, it doesn't have two important uBO features:

    1. Dynamic Filtering and Dynamic URL Filtering - they are really unique features and make uBO incomparable.
    2. The Logger. False positives happen frequently (particularly if you add more filterlists) - but how can you find them without a logger?

Sure - you can install uBO in Brave as well. But uBO works best in Firefox. Besides, I'm not sure if those Chromium forks like Brave and Vivaldi will really keep their promise to not implement Manifest 3 in the long run. I'm afraid that they will break their promise one day with the argument that they have a built-in adblocker after all which doesn't depend on the webRequest API. Unfortunatey, those blockers are less powerful (see earlier remarks).

I don't know whether I'll add uBO or not. At the moment the inbuilt blocker seems fine. I run Firefox as my default (it's bundled with Ubuntu) but I'm unsure about the snap version due to be bundled with the next upgrade. The Opera snap was terrible, mind you, Opera's rubbish now anyway. Opera ASA was a lot like Bugvaldi now, I liked it, but needed another browser as well with it. The Opera snap took so long to open I could brew a cup of tea while I was waiting and there were video rendering issues. From what I can gather the Firefox snap has improved hugely. Fingers crossed.

Meanwhile I'm still impressed with Brave.

you're welcome, pegas. you can bookmark "sync.opera.com" in opera on ios and use it as an online bookmark manager. better than nothing.

@Daveski17 You can toggle JS switch per site using the Brave Shield icon in address bar and add "I don't care about cookies" list or other custom lists as with µBO, then you can remove 2 extensions.

Oh OK, thanks. The JS switch extension is simple though.

Just so you know, the Fanboy Annoyances list contains the Fanboy Social list, so no need to have both selected (source).

Yes, it's an extremely smart workaround. Thanks for the hint!
