Well there is no need to keep sensitive data in your computer, USB storage is extremely fast to transfer data to, and can be unplugged afterwards. I also think that celebrities, very rich people, politicians, and of course corporations are the likely targets of those attacks. thankfully the average user should be spared as it doesn't offer any incentive for a successful hack.

Uh-oh!!! Thanks -- that's bad news. However, I think I'm still okay. Although I do not run anti-ransomware or an AV, I do run SecureAPlus, a whitelist/anti-execute/default-deny app.

With a good default-deny app, it means that I myself must personally screw-up in order for my computer to become infected. I recognize that I am quite capable of screwing up (aren't we all?) BUT -- as far as I know, there is NO security software that can defend against a stupid &/or careless user, right?

You and most Wilders users will be fine because they are informed and aware of the dangers out there.
An AV could help you as another/last layer when you make a mistake with your default-deny software.
I'm not familiar with SecureAPlus but doesn't it have an av component?
There was a recent user test on MalwareTips where Secureaplus Pro Antivirus 2021 did great:

Yes, SA+ has its own on-board behavior/AI-type AV plus it also performs scans in-the-cloud with other AVs including Avast, Avira, Emsisoft, F-secure, McAfee & 5 others. However, I bought it for the whitelist/anti-exe/default-deny. The other stuff is just gravy.

THANKS for the link to MT's review of SA+. As the tester said, SA+ does not offer anti-phishing. Anti-phishing is MY job. I'm curious as to how the tester got a trojan from a website UNLESS he chose to download something. Even if a trojan IS downloaded, it still must execute to cause a problem, & SA+ will block all non-whitelisted executes. Thus, a trojan cannot execute unless the user allows it to do so. If so, baaaad user -- no supper for you! :cautious:

    You are welcome, take care!
It's just a user review, but good to see SA+ tested and it did great in that review.
So, you're absolutely fine, with the gravy as last layer of defense :D

Tweaked again now that WiseVector StopX v3.03 is a stable release. Removed VoodooShield as having both would be overkill and reverted to Andy Ful's hardening tools from DefenderUI (Free).

    - Windows Defender hardened with ConfigureDefender 'Hard', Simple Windows Hardening & Firewall Hardening
    - WiseVector StopX v3.03

    Also:
    - AdGuard AdBlocker v4 Beta Extension
    - Quad9 DoH (using YogaDNS DNS Client)
    - Macrium Reflect v8 (Paid Licence)
    - KeePassXC & LastPass Password Managers

    On Demand Tools also available:
Avast Free, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, Malwarebytes Premium & AdwCleaner, Norton Power Eraser

Yes. Too many problems... probably due to the other softwares I have running on my machines. The difficulties were continuous, but now all is good. I wish HMP.A ran better for me. I like the program.

On my PC, SecureAplus uses no more than 150mb ram, maybe more when surfing around the net etc.
What i do not like at all is, that you can kill all the SecureAplus processes easily via task manager, so there's no process protection at all. The same was with F-Secure.
F-Secure protects its processes if you're using their "business" versions, but their consumer version(s) did not have it (until recently, they added it to home versions too).

Process Protection is in their Pro version only for whatever reason they decided.

Doesn't work well with my AMD CPU.
At least with earlier versions of W.10.
I have not tried with 21H2.

Most likely hardware related. Updating would most likely make no difference. You aren't missing anything anyway.
