Let us a-distro test! I've written a fairly detailed review of Linux Mint 20.2 Uma Cinnamon edition, tested in as triple-boot Windows and Linux configuration on a laptop with UEFI, AMD Ryzen CPU and Vega graphics, covering live session, installation and post-install usage, including look and feel, fonts, customization, HD scaling, software selection, tools and utilities, system helpers, media playback, Samba speed, performance, responsiveness, stability, hardware compatibility, hardware issues, boot-related black screen problem on battery power, other observations, and more. Have fun. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/linux-mint-uma-cinnamon.html Cheers, Mrk
Don't overload the memory and force a large transfer to swap with Mint. That could take hours. Other than that, I've had no big issues but I'm contemplating a switch to Debian Cinnamon for my current Mint systems. Debian is the champion of stability for me so far. I like to hibernate sessions and come back to them a few days later for months at a time. I've never had a failure to resume from Debian but not so for Mint. As hibernation is not something most people use and it requires a bit of tweaking to get set up in most distros these days, I won't count that against Mint. I actually like it that the GUI doesn't change much in Linux from version to version. I prefer stability and consistency over innovation for innovations sake. The constantly shifting Window's GUI is one of the annoyances that drove me to Linux. I really don't like Plasma all that much. It looks slick from the outside but I find Mate and Cinnamon to be much easier to use.
