    Thanks @fblais
I am fairly new to Linux Mint Cinnamon. I'm no expert so still fumbling my way about but it's the first Linux that I have been able to use other than the ones that run from CD.
I like it. It is not my everyday runner yet but it is growing on me.
It's quite good looking and usable (even to a Windows user) 'out of the box' for most basic tasks
I find my latest version quite 'snappy' and fast.
I had a problem with the previous version when after a time, the mouse cursor would dart over the screen and become unusable. This doesn't seem to be happening in my current version..
I have not done much with the command prompt as I'm not familiar with all the commands etc yet.
A few days ago I managed to upgrade my version to the latest 20.2 Cinnamon and was lucky as I had no problems and kept my settings and data. It didn't take long. I updated through 'system reports'
I've managed to download and install a few things and can sort of find my way about.
I'm using Firetools/Firejail which is a Sandbox thing to run the browser.
There is a stickynotes app called 'Notes' which could be useful.
I downloaded a multi clipboard tool which is handy.
I installed PlayonLinux which allows you to run some Windows apps.I run Faststone Photoresizer and Faststone Capture (FSCapture) using that
It makes it's own directories etc.

There is a tool called Timeshift which I should have used when doing my upgrade. I didn't use it this time but will next upgrade. This keeps you safe in case anything goes wrong with the upgrade and you can go back to previous before problem occurred and saves you from a re-install.
I know that you are familiar with all this fblais but people thinking of trying Mint might find it useful.

How do they run under Wine/PlayOnLinux? Close to how they run on Windows?

Yes fairly similar. PlayOnLinux makes it's own Windows type directory structure that they run within.
I haven't used them much from installation and I'm no expert but they look the same and seem to work.
It lives in a little world of it's own.
