I haven't used a free 3rd party AV longterm for quite a while. Now that Sophos and Bitdefender are shutting down their free versions, what are the choices left?

    So far I know:
    360 Total Security
    Adaware Antivirus Free
    AhnLab
    Avast/AVG
    Avira Free
    Comodo
    Immunet
    Kaspersky Security Cloud Free
    Panda Free
    SecureAPlus
    WiseVector StopX
    ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus

    EDIT: Updated the list

That's because it's only listed on AhnLab's Korean language website. You can download it from this link.

Yes, Adaware is still around, but it's not particularly good in my opinion.

No, that's ALYac, which is only in Korean. A number of years ago they published an English language version called Roboscan, but that was abandoned long ago. When I emailed them in 2017, they indicated that an English language version of ALYac may be released at some point. But I've given up on that idea.

That's right LOL. What was the animal carrying the pill? I used Roboscan on XP for a while.

Ok now you got me going. Tell us about Huorong Internet Security please.

Hmm... I wonder which (if any) of these freebies is not affected by Log4J Remote Code Execution?

Isn't that up to Apache to fix?

Apache already released fixed versions. If 3rd party products use Log4j in their products, then it is their responsibility to release an update which includes the fixed Log4j.
That said, Log4j is a Java based logging utility, which afaik is only useful in Java applications, and is aimed for enterprise/cloud use. I think it is highely unlikely to be used inside a consumer or enterprise endpoint AV software. If they're vulnerable, I think it is rather in the serverside software for enterprise use.

I'll likely eventually end up using MS Defender again, but have enjoyed testing Comodo AV atm. It's much quieter and user friendly than back in the day.
