How I use Edge on Linux:

    Site permissions/Javascript: Block, Allow: [*.]netflix.com

User-Agent Switcher extension: only enable for Netflix.com

Firefox is used as my primary browser, launched in Firejail with command: firejail firefox -no-remote %u

I have also precautionally disabled this flag.
Although it does not remove the item in the context menu highlighted with the ugly red arrow in the image:

Obviously I had already removed Bing as a search engine.

BTW, I removed Edge form my Linux O/S and instead installed Google chrome (Of all browsers  ) for the strict purpose of viewing Netflix streaming content, because I don't need to utilize a user-agent switching extension for this purpose.

I'm with Sampei on this. Firefox is more secure than Chrome based browsers on Linux. Firefox (Ubuntu) scored higher than Chrome and Vivaldi on BrowserAudit.

Firefox is my primary browser used >90% of the time. Chrome I use just for Netflix, because Firefox requires an extension for that purpose, and the only one that works is not actively monitored by Mozilla.

On Ubuntu I'm mostly in Firefox (shipped as default) although I have Chrome and Bugvaldi too.

With today's update, Microsoft added another new setting which was turned ON by default. It would have sent all my search info to Microsoft to "improve" search results. The 'Learn More' link added that this would include non-Bing search engines as well.

Yeah, I switched that off. I do, however, like this relatively new one (hope it works like intended).

What else is new with Microsoft attempting to sneak their telemetry shenanigans past unsuspecting users  I see this nonsense with many of their updates.

In my case, a popup asked in advance if I wanted to turn that option ON or OFF.

Strange, I updated today but don't have that option in settings.

In SouthPark and mine, the "Optional Diagnostic Data" are OFF.
    In digmor crusher are ON.
    What about yours?

'Optional diagnostic data' and 'Search and service improvement' (which digmor crusher does not appear to have) both 'Off' here (two machines).

Edit: However on one machine I also got a pop-up explaining 'Search and service' setting, with options 'Got it' and 'Manage this setting'. Clicking 'Got it' turned it on!

I wonder if only U.S. users are getting the "improve" search option? In my case it was turned on, but I got a popup telling me about it, so I immediately turned it off. I left the typosquatting option on for now. I don't have the Edge setting for "transparent ads" yet on my system.

If is off here and I cannot enable it, thankfully. I'm wondering if SpywareBlaster changing Edge to Managed affects that setting?

I turned it off, but twice now since doing so, I have had Edge throw a pop up advising me that it is improving my search results and when I go to manage settings that option has renabled itself. Not impressed! No means no MS! Sync settings is off in Edge and Windows, so that isn't the issue.

EDIT: Since writing this it's done it again several times. I check it is off after opening Edge, but it throws the pop up again within 10-15mins of launching Edge. There is no way to get rid of the pop up other than to press either of the two options on the pop up: "got it", which re-enables the option, or "manage settings", which opens the settings page and also automatically re-enables the option. I find if I ignore the pop up and open the settings page, the setting is still off, but then I'm stuck with this intrusive pop up which won't clear off! Don't like the nagging or the disruption. Grrr.
