After a few days using Windows 11 I have found some problems that I didn't have in Windows 10: 1. Skype desktop version doesn´t work installed inside a sandbox; the login screen never appears. 2. Any program that tries to access the webcam is immediately closed. 0.9.8b - Windows 11 Pro.
Does this particular bug also affect your machine with Windows 11, Monica? See here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-1-0-0.442171/page-5#post-3052481
Yes, I am also affected. I did the test inside a virtual machine because a couple of days ago I went back to W10 on my real machine. The reasons? 1. The errors I mentioned in the previous post. 2. The start menu is a real piece of crap. 3. They have removed some win32 applications that used to run sandboxed such as notepad or screen grabber. I think I'll stay on W10 until the end of support.
I don't want to discuss, I'm just pointing to a better Windows 10 edition: Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 with a 10-year support lifecycle. More info: look in MDL forums.
Ah thanks for going to the trouble of checking that on a VM, Monica. Well it's good to know it's not a peculiarity on my end.
Hi @DavidXanatos Click to run Office programmes work very well on my Windows 10 machines with Sandboxie 0.9.8d and 1.0.3, but sadly do not work on Windows 11 with my newly and cleanly installed Sandboxie 1.0.3. It loads an orange window saying Office is updating (however it is not - office is fully updated) before crashing with a window saying the programme couldn't run. This is what loads instead of the usual office loading window: And this is what my Sandman shows (with my name blanked out): You'll note it is an enhanced box running (due to having Drop Rights ticked), but I get the same result in the Default box and in the Legacy box too. EDIT - I have found the culprit. See this comment: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-1-0-4.442877/#post-3057982 FURTHER EDIT: Office Click to Run works in Sandboxie 1.0.4, out-of-the-box. Just make sure that under the Compatibility Tab in Global settings, that the prefilled squares in the boxes by the suggested programmes, are changed to ticks and then OK to save. Also, Office seems to only work on Win 11 if BOTH the DefaultBox and the Sandbox being used for the Office app have "Drop Rights" unticked in the Sandbox Options under "Admin Rights".
Open the Start Menu and enter webcam. It will find Camera privacy settings. Open it and make sure that Camera access is enabled, and that webcam access is allowed for apps that you want.
