Not sure if this is the case. But it was commented here that BD doesn’t scan scripts by default https://malwaretips.com/threads/advanced-threat-protection-test-2021-–-consumer.110873/post-964164 If anyone here uses BD Internet Security (not Total Security), perhaps they could confirm if that is the case.
I have Subs for both BIS and BTS. The Scan script option is disabled by default in both products. https://malwaretips.com/attachments/bts-scan-script-jpg.261855/
Instead of looking at that setting (which also here is disabled, as it is all default with consumer products), please try malicious scripts and look whether they are scanned (they are, otherwise it would have missed several more).
Still strange to have a scan script switch when its basically does nothing then? So turning this switch on would have had no impact on your tests?
I didn't read the full report yet, but this seems to be more about advanced malware attacks, that most home users will normally not encounter. But nice to see that AV-Comparatives gives so much info about what and how exactly everything was tested. VIPRE, G Data and Bitdefender did pretty bad in the consumer test.
Andy at MT notes that Configure Defender settings would have stopped most of the attacks with Windows Defender: https://malwaretips.com/threads/advanced-threat-protection-test-2021-–-consumer.110873/post-964247
