BTW, I was looking at the Disney+ database and seems it has been improved quite a lot, no wonder why so many sign up for it, it's better than Netflix when it comes to movies. This is their database in Holland, I'm quite impressed, it's quality over quantity, Netflix should learn from this.

I'm sure Netflix paved the way for this to happen. Not that I am thrilled about it as these services are making it difficult to get shows on DVD anymore. Likely as intended.

No fooling. There's also a dearth of 4K Ultra HD titles, Edge of Tomorrow being a prime example. Not that standard Blu-ray with Dolby Video is anything to complain about, especially upscaled to a 4K TV via a premium 4K player.

Yeah, Blu-ray disappeared first. There were shows I was collecting on Blu-ray, had to switch to DVD when the Blu-ray stopped, and now they aren't releasing new seasons at all.

I believe DVD's are unhandy. I would rather see an option to download and save movies/series to disk. If I'm correct, currently when you buy movies you can only stream them and if it gets removed from the cloud, you're out of luck.

This. This is my complaint with streaming services. You can buy them and don't own anything and if they end a show or movie you are out of luck. I'd be more likely to sign up if I could download a title and know I could use it indefinitely.

On the other hand this a reason why streaming services are quite affordable for people in many countries. Some people will buy Blu-Ray discs with chosen movies to store them even if they are subscribing to streaming services which is additional revenue stream (no pun intended). Let's be real: most people wouldn't have time and/or interest to rewatch every movie they saw on streaming service anyway. Only small percentage of movies are worth to watch again.
My biggest complaint with streaming services is that they don't allow for fair use, but this also applies to DRM-protected Blu-ray discs...

The reason I download/backup movies, I really like. I have 150 DVDs, but DVD quality is low. EU laws are quite useful, I can legally download one copy of a movie I own. Technically buying an online movie equals to owning it?! :doubt:

Very weird that this still isn't possible. I would be willing to spend quite a lot of cash if I could download movies to disk. If we can buy DVD's, why can't we download movies/series for personal use? It would even give a boost to the SSD business, because people would need quite a lot of diskspace. BTW, I don't need 4K, for me full HD is good enough.

They never wanted us to have physical copies and they don't believe in personal use. I remember the push back when VCRs came out. The MPAA fought to make them illegal.

I don't think I'd buy SSDs for this purpose. A traditional drive is fast enough and less likely to degrade over time. Depending on the type obviously. A disconnected SSD will lose data before a platter drive will.
