Redcore Linux Still Aims to Bring Gentoo Linux to the Masses, Now Ships with Linux 5.14 October 20, 2021 https://9to5linux.com/redcore-linux...linux-to-the-masses-now-ships-with-linux-5-14 2021/10/20 - Redcore Linux Hardened 2102 (Polaris), stable
The best general option now for a Gentoo based distro and one of the few where you can interact directly with the devs via their Facebook group.
“He does however accept contributions from anyone regardless of area of interest (website, wiki, bugs, packages etc).” This makes Redcore very much a community driven project so although the lead might be a single person the ‘devs’ are very much in the plural. Many of these ‘one person’ developers also contribute to a host of other open source projects. Having multiple fingers in a pie doesn’t necessarily guarantee the end result will be fit to eat. Also, I know from first hand experience with my own projects how difficult it is to coordinate activity when contributors are spread around the planet in different time zones. Dismissing any Linux distro simply because it only has one lead developer is not a convincing argument with any basis in fact and denigrates the projects these people have dedicated themselves to, quite often for many years. During my many years of using Linux by far the most issues I've encountered have arisen from distros with multiple team contributors, except those originating from Russia where they seem to apply more attention to Q&A.
It doesn't use systemd. I know that systemd is controversial - but as a security-aware user I love its comprehensive sandboxing.
There are current issues with Calculate due to the age of the last release and changes within Gentoo. You'll need to use Google translate in their Russian language forum to digest the necessary fixes.
