To clarify, I'm saying that sometimes enabling Vivaldi's ad blocker seems to unbreak stuff, while ad-blockers usually break stuff. Seems like some weird interaction with uBlock, but it might be me misunderstanding.

Like I said, sometimes streaming quotes don't work on investing.com and then I will need to enable/disable Vivaldi's ad-blocker which of course will reload the website. But anyway, luckily I'm not seeing the adblock-detector again since switching to another filter-list.

Why are you using Vivaldi adblock instead of ublock origin?

I'm not, I'm using both. I'm just saying that sometimes they seem to conflict with each other resulting in stuff not working on websites, like for example embedded content from Instagram and Twitter. But I'm not sure what's up with investing.com, it seems the problem isn't related to Vivaldi's adblocker, but I often need to refresh the website to get streaming quotes, perhaps uBlock is the culprit.

Why don't you whitelist that site in uBlock.

Because then I won't be able to block other annoying things on this site. Seriously, browsers really need to implement uBlock's element picker.

Is the Element Picker copyrighted? If not, you'd think browsers would have adopted this by now, it's so handy. Can't think of any method similar without stepping on boundaries either.

Brave has element removal via right-click, though not quite as simple as µBO.

Yes, it's the easiest way to remove annoyances. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it will basically hide the blocked objects, it will not stop them from being loaded. So if you save a website, you will still see this annoying stuff.

Didn't know about this. Hopefully Vivaldi will implement this too, I guess it's to to make a feature request.

This is not true. The Element Picker lets you create not only cosmetic but also network filters. It's not always possible to create the latter for specific elemts, though.

I'm not sure that I follow. Are you referring to this?

Thanks for the info. Would be nice if more browsers followed suit with this tool, right?

Malware blocking lists in a content blocker are nothing more than a drop in the ocean and mostly not up to date. So rather useless.

My thoughts exactly, phishing links "live and die" so fast that those lists are almost instantaneous made obsolete after their compilation, I dont think those lists can hold a candle to Google Safe Browsing or Microsoft SmartScreen cloud approach solutions.

Said that, I dont think it is a problem to have those enabled in uBlock Origin because of how optimized it is.

You could use Phishing URL Blocklist (by the same author of Online Malicious URL Blocklist).
    Code:
    https://curben.gitlab.io/malware-filter/phishing-filter.txt
    18.929 rules a.t.m.

IMHO are dynamic rules in uBlock an effective and much better way to prevent malware, even in enhanced easy mode.
Edit: and of course still better prevention in medium and in hard mode.

I didn't know it can also block elements from loading.

No, elements get removed correctly most of the time. But for example, on imdb.com you will see your last visited movies in the bottom bar. I remove this with uBlock's element picker, but when you save the website to disk and load it, you will see this bar again, so this means it's not actually blocked from loading, it's only hidden.
