    iOS (and iPadOS) is more secure than macOS, by design, but due the large number of users it’s also more attractive to hackers.

    Yes and the thing is, Apple knows that the chance that bugs in the macOS will be exploited on a mass scale is quite small, but M$ doesn't have this luxury so they need to be on top of things. But it's not like security bugs are not getting abused at all on the macOS, so hopefully Apple will take things a little more seriously in the future. There are probably plenty of zero days for both the iOS and macOS that might be used in targeted attacks.
