... how many of you are still using Raxco's Instant Recovery. Now that we have other excellent recovery programs such as Macrium, Drive Snapshot, Image For Windows, just wondering how many were still using this clunky but reliable program. Thanks, Acadia
I don't use it anymore Arcadia, time changes things. FD-ISR was one of the best programs I ever used.
I dont use it anymore either. I run mainly Linux nowadays.. But it was a wonderful program and rock solid.
Interesting question... I might keep a bare bones OS only snapshot stashed in the background. Was a great safety/backup tool for me when I upgraded > W10 Was such a great multi image/snapshot tool. Incredible utility and options. Terabyte and FDISR opened all sorts of doors. Have not flicked on FDISR for a long time. Not even sure if Raxco is still interested. Legacy that still works, but, really, have moved on. Just cant get myself to wipe the files No question about that.
U know i was using 320 GB HDD, on a new pc(not that new or latest). Just had dual core processor, Graphic card, with lot of space to use hardware like Wireless adapter etc. That was from 2014, up till 2021. I still h' that pc and using it as i write this msg. That HDD broke and now i h' 1 TB HDD. Also i won a Giveaway for RollbackRx Pro 10.7, also i h' one more license for Rollback. Probably i'll sell it to someone. By fooling him, lol..... No i wouldn't do that. But recently Rollback is giving me headache by not correctly displaying the disk details. I was using Rollback from the year 2018. I thought its a genuine serial n probably work right. But no! Now i plan not to use any kind of program that uses snapshots. Not even EazyFix brother or sister to RollbackRx. Its robust with the tendency to break down, as it doesn't h' a history for its performance. Now although i h' that old FD-ISR, i think that will probably work. But i m again thinking to buy Raxco Instant Recovery. This will be authentic and right from my part as i m using it and paying for it. Developers will be happy to receive for there hard work. But one thing always bothered me, only one thing bothered me. I think when i make a secondary snapshot, does it put strain on the HDD. Even with dual core or even with the latest i9 or i7 pro. Does it put strain on the over all performance of my system. Will it read the data little more or longer. That has always been my concern. So any user of Raxco could answer this question. That data is still on one partition. Because i really m aiming for Raxco Instant Recovery to be my primary Recovery solution. So help me here guys. Ur suggestion.
FD-ISR was one of the best programs on XP for me as well. It was so very reliable (regardless of space required to store snapshots) that the transition up to Windows 8 for me was a bittersweet change.
I wasn't too familiar with FD-ISR then and back then i didn't h' money to buy bigger HDD. But now i am using Raxco Instant Recovery, still good as ISR was and i purchased one license at some discount. I h' three snapshot and check the free space still available. i love it. However before Raxco i was using RollBackRx and the license i got on a free Giveaway but later after 3 years of continuous use, it started to show problems like free space was not being calculated and not shown in the C:\ disk properties. What happened to the free space. I tried reverting back to previous snapshot and then previous, still the problem persisted and eventually i removed it. But Raxco havn't yet shown any kind of problem. One time though i got a BSOD 2-3 times and my Raxco-IR showed as trial ver and i again inserted the serial and was registered again. I think Raxco-IR is playing little rough by doing a force check on the license, that was not present in FD-ISR. Even with firewall how do they do that. But i am using Raxco there is no other software like it , up till now.
