I would use the windows defender (strenghten) and macrium reflect free. Not paying for security.

Nice start! Throw in Sandboxie and you'd be all set. (I prefer Macrium Reflect Home.)

What is Chameleon that you have mentioned in your config?

Chameleon spoofs the user-agent, can block etags, manage refers, block fingerprinting, etc. It's a pretty cool extension!

If I had to pay it'd be Kaspersky IS; with a couple of tweaks it's bullet proof.
If I could choose a free solution it'd be Comodo with the sandbox hardened.
Sandboxie is simply not the same after Tzuk sold it.

    My current setup? Linux.

We have a computer shop here in England called PCWorld (Currys) that stopped (conveniently) selling backup / imagining software many years ago (just like all the other computer shops) and there is only one reason I can think of for doing this, which is to keep their customers in the dark regarding backing up / imagining software (ie make it seem like you said too geeky and extremely difficult to do), so their customers will pay a ridiculous fee for them to fix an issue.

The same shop sells crap software like AVANQUEST Fix-It Utilities Professional / LAPLINK PCmover Ultimate / CYBERLINK PowerDVD 17 Ultra / NERO Burn Express 4 /ROXIO Toast 12 Titanium etc - Which says it all!

Under Settings/General uncheck the box "perform recommended actions automatically"
Under Application Control change the default level of unknown applications to "untrusted"

If I would have to pay I would choose between Emsisoft, ESET or F-Secure.

The latest version is still v6.2.9.1113. AG hasn't been updated for a while.
