Well done, @Antarctica.:thumb: I still use KIS, but I'm in the process of removing it from my machine. I would perhaps keep KIS if KL either made it possible to hide/ignore such incompatibility hints or if they removed SUMo from their incompatibility list. However, I don't think that this will ever happen.

@Buddel, unfortunately we have no power against these big companies. It’s just $29.00 less revenue, they couldn’t care less…

Good to know Kaspersky is a non-option though, for me. :thumb:

Edit: SUMo is non-negotiable as it has a wider 'spread' than any other updater / notifier w/could have, especially important when it comes to my library of portables.

I have just moved from the installed version of SUMo to the portable version provided by portableapps[dot]com. This is just meant to be a test to see whether this irritating KIS hint (incompatible software) will come back or not. On the one hand, I'm aware of the fact that this would not be a satisfying solution to this issue, even if it worked, because SUMo would continue to be flagged as "incompatible" by Kaspersky products. What's more, automatic SUMo updates would no longer work with this portable version. On the other hand, however, I would at least get rid of this pointless hint. I would really hate to replace KIS by another anti-malware solution because it has always worked well for me, and it runs smoothly alongside AppGuard Solo.

The PA version of SUMo (which I use) normally gets updated pretty swiftly, Kyle will testify. Hope it works for you ... :shifty:

BTW, drag and drop does work with SUMo if it is not running elevated. If it runs as admin and UAC is enabled as in my case, drag and drop will not work. I forgot about those kind of situations.

Yes, it works fine for me. Thanks.:)
I'm still waiting for a reply from KL regarding SUMo's alledged incompatibilty with Kaspersky products (although I already know what they will tell me: We can't give you a technical explanation, but uninstall SUMo because it might interfere with Kaspersky products, just to be on the safe side... ... ... Anyway, SUMo is here to stay!).

The reply from Kaspersky arrived here this morning.

    (1) We already told you in a previous support ticket that SUMo is incompatible with KIS products.
That's right, but they did not tell me WHY SUMo is regarded as incompatible with KIS products. I'm still waiting for a technical explanation (which I will never get).

    (2) You can disable this hint in KIS by clicking "ignore".
No, you can't. This was possible in previous versions of KIS, but you cannot hide/ignore such hints in v21.3. Those "experts" do not seem to know their own products.

As expected, their support is useless. Workaround: Use the PA version of SUMo if you want to get rid of this pointless hint from Kaspersky.

I guess you already knew their answer, right? :isay:
There is only one word for their support, arrogance…

I found another workaround: I replaced KIS with another AV solution, that doesn't have problems with SUMo ( I believe that no other AV on market has this problem). :)

Yes, this is an excellent workaround that should definitely be mentioned here.:)

Neither File version nor Product version were updated by the dev for the last version of CrystaslDiskInfo ( 8.12.4.0). Only the GUI shows the correct version. What is SUMo using now to show that an update is available even though there is none? Both file and product versions are 8.12.3.0

From the registry (Add/Remove control panel). Is it working correctly in your case ? One user is still reporting the 'wrong' version being reported by SUMo (maybe due to CDI portable version being used ?)

No. I have the latest, but I don't use the installer, only the zip. You are assuming the app is being installed. Normally, the file and product versions are correct, but in this case they are not. Registry does not apply in my case and probably for many others too. If all else fails hit the skip button .. I know :D

I hope the product and file versions are still being used to flag updates.
