So what would you guys go for if you had a Mac? Clario looks kind of interesting. The strange thing is that on Windows I would never install tools like Avast, Bitdefender and Avira, but because there is so little choice, I would be willing to check them out on the Mac.
Well, I use Malwarebytes Premium for Mac. It runs great, don't even know that it's there, no slow downs. Malwarebytes has a Head Developer that is devoted to the product and ahead of the curve on malware and Apples updates of the Mac IMHO. Two softwares I definitely would not put on my Mac is MacKeeper and Avast. Avast may be good now but who knows what will happen when they get acquired by Norton. I wouldn't let Norton touch my Mac. I find it best to look at the specific Security Softwares Forum and see what problems they are having with compatibility and keeping up with Apples updates of the Mac and bugs. Microsoft Windows and Apples Mac are two different worlds when it comes to third party security software.
Has MBAM same features on mac osx as on windows? has osx an integrated solution like windows/windows defender? just want to know. i consider in special cases also mbam for a second opinion, but it most cases i use virustotal (hash search) for quick check, windows defender is running in background. PS Avira belongs ti NortonLifeLock (ex Symantec) and Avast is on the Norton todo list for acquiring. in the test overview, i only see 10 competitors, is that all?
And what about Clario? Seems like they bought MacKeeper which has a bad reputation. Now that I think of it, does Malwarebytes also has the anti-ransomware and anti-exploit feature like on Windows?
I don't have a Mac and likely never will but to be honest, if I did I probably wouldn't run anything. Considering no more actual malware than I have seen in 27 years of running Windows, I really wouldn't expect to encounter any on a Mac.
Hi, As far as I know ESET has also products for MAC but I don't see them tested in this test by AV-C. Am I right? If so, does anyone know why it was not tested? (just being curious)
BTW, I already checked it myself, seems like Malwarebytes doesn't have the ransomware and anti-exploit module on the Mac, a bit disappointing.
I use Intego Premium X9, you can tell its built for macOS all the popular ones from windows lack so many features when released on Mac! for those who don't want a suite & would prefer to just use a light antivirus, I would recommend ClamXAV.
