Personally, I wouldn't mind paying for SH if it gets more frequent updates, not just one update in three or more years. Windows is constantly changing, so the corresponding hardening tool should keep track with OS changes.

    @Buddel

Now that we have completed the separation of OSA and Win Update Stop, we will start to update all our current software (SH included) and release new ones.

There will be some (good) news soon, can't anticipate much for now but just stay tuned as always.

I removed SysHardener from my computer earlier this week. This tool has not been updated for more than three years. I know SH doesn't require frequent updates, but there have been numerous OS changes since SH was last updated in May 2018. I'm just not willing to use security software that seems to have been abandoned.

I have the portable version of SysHardener, and this popped when I went to start:

Obviously, because of the path. ;)

Let's keep those fingers crossed for good luck that andreas springs a surprise or two for us soon. When his dev team begins focusing attention to updating their other programs it seems to come in waves of more than one for the less time consuming improvement updates.

One major and often overlooked by now NVT program that is been a fixture on all my 8.1 systems, and now Windows 10, is DriverRadarPro 1.8 (last known release) It is IMO proven a very vital and nonintrusive driver monitor that is accurate and is helped me many times, even now, verify correct launches of drivers by the plenty which are vital to launching USB and other third party initiatives (PCHacker) that lets you know it is indeed loaded, and when know safe, can Whitelist those via Hash, Path, and signer to safely keep you and your system a running tally of them.

SysHardener I haven't really garnered any of my attention JUST YET, but it will be interesting to see what NVT adds and comes up with to improve it as well.

I've uninstalled Kaspersky on one machine because it slowed it down to an unbearable snail pace, so I'm now using Microsoft Defender + firewall. I noticed that if I apply Suggested Tweaks to SysHardener that the 'News and Interests' icon will not show the icon to my local Weather, but will show the temperature. When I reset Windows Firewall the Weather icon returns.

I haven't tracked down which 'Suggested Tweak' is causing the firewall not to load the icon but it might be time @novirusthanks could release an update, especially now that Win11 release is expected soon.

Or maybe SysHardener should be EOL.... one or the other.

    Thank you for considering.

Excellent idea, Krusty. I was considering SH at one point but then, Windows 11 happened. It's been almost 6 months since NVT mentioned the possibility of a new version. Is it still on the table?

Good question. SH, which was last updated in 2018, looks like abandonware these days.

Wow nice upgrade for it. Like all Windows programs, security progs or customization apps, i still keep ole SysHardener around but it hasn't seen use in many moons.

    We've released SysHardener v2.0:
    https://www.appsvoid.com/products/syshardener/

It is now part of Appsvoid software applications and it runs in 30-days free trial.

    syshardener-1.png

It has been rewritten from scratch and has a lot of improvements:

You can now apply or restore a single selected rule by right-click on the rule and then click on "Apply This" or "Restore This" (very useful). It now fully supports Windows 11, we improved support with Windows 10, it has many new up-to-date OS hardening tweaks and Windows Firewall rules, you can search for a rule via the search box, it has two pre-defined profiles (Home User and Office Business User), we added important privacy-related rules, many new file types can now be unassociated making them mostly harmless for the end user, we updated the command-line parameters available, and much much more.

As always, feedbacks of any kind are welcome :)

Hope you like this new version.

I uninstalled SH v1.5 and installed v2.0. I do like the new version very much. Looks great, and no problems so far, even though most options are enabled. Thank you!

    We've released SysHardener v2.1:
    https://www.appsvoid.com/products/syshardener/

    Here is what's new:

We've added new firewall rules and new options to unassociate more file types (e.g .msi, .msp, .vhd, etc).

The Core Isolation, LSP Protection and Svchost.exe Mitigation options are now unchecked on Home User profile (they may create issues with Steam games and other security software, so we made them optional and not auto-checked on Home User profile).

the firewall (WF) rules are well done against lolbins, but the autoplay features should be left intact I think, its just annoyance , similarly to hidden folders
