I don't use Windows Defender , i don't use any Antivirus running on the background

but when i download a file from a unknown place or person or just wanna do a full scan..

Malwarebytes was my go to, but now it installs every time a premium license for a few days and enables the active protection and shields

i tend to deal with a few machines and windows installs (friends, family and workmates mostly) so every time i install it in a machine or re-install it, i have to go a turn the shields and everything off and configure what i want.

Maybe a couple years.. maybe 3? I remember Malwarebytes being the best there is, and maybe the most ethical with privacy and stuff..

but nowadays i haven't really read up on anything on Anti-Virus stuff, so i am a bit out of the loop, would love some discussion on this

use hmp. it's portable, no shields to disable and it's good for on-demands.

    Hi,

" You will never be asked to buy this program because it is 100% free or charge – to scan and to get rid of malware."
This was quoted the link above on their site.

There is an option to end the premium trial. I think it may be under Settings/Account, from memory.

It's free to remove threats for 30 days. The 30-day trial of the full version only starts the first time you use it to remove threats.

It scan doesn't seem as through as ESET's online scan, it didn't scan all drives, then again the latter failed to recover some PUPs i selected

Malwarebytes is still better than both at the moment

I think that both ESET Online Scanner and HitManPro are better than Malwarebytes, but this is just me. if you are satisfied with Malwarebytes, just keep it.

use 2 online scanners or three if you wish. Trend Micro , Eset and McAfee Stinger would be enough.....

ESET is very aggressive and deletes all kinds of cracks, keygens, etc. as part of their scan no questions asked

I like BitDefender. Has had good results at AV-comparatives for a few years.

    G'day Ron,

From memory, the last time I used their online scanner you had to deselect automatic removal before you started the scan.

    Hello @Krusty

Yes, if wanted. I'm just saying that I like the stance that ESET takes and targets cracked programs. Often people think they're just getting a crack but many times the crack is bundled with other junk. Thus taking a stronger stance about them I think helps users in the end.

Their newer version removed that option, it's not even buried in any advanced settings. I still use it as an on demand/second opinion scanner on occasions. Thankfully I still had a copy of the old version to transfer over to my new machines.
