As my copy is the leaked version in a clean VM it is not activated so these things don't work for me. I'm waiting to see how things go when this goes live on the Dev channel and if I get it at all.

I'm not in any hurry with this as claims are that upgraders don't get it until 2022 anyway:
    https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-windows-11-windows-10-devices-2022/

It also looks like some OEMs will be allowed to ship without the TPM chip:
    https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-is-letting-oems-ship-windows-11-pcs-without-any-tpm/

They blew Windows RT, S, and X, we'll see how this all goes. So far for me it's leaving a bad taste.

Wow, great answer, I appreciate this. Also the links, they keep things current as Microsoft keeps changing and re-arranging things. Leaves a bad taste for me also, definitely. This wasn't such a tempest when Windows 8.1 transitioned to 10 I recall. But then, the threat landscape wasn't what it is today, I guess.

Hmmmm. Got version 2.2.4.0 and that funky red detail, though WhyNotWin11 site sez 2.2.2 and no funky red detail in their screenies.

Looks like I won't have any trouble keeping Win11 off my system even if I enable TPM in the BIOS. Which I won't. I'll just continue to suffer the obsolete Taskbar, disFluent icons and (oh no!) square corners.

None of my laptops or my desktop are Windows 11 compatible. I don't buy new hardware if I don't need to so will just stick with Windows 10 (all my devices work perfectly fine with Windows 10) until 2025 and beyond. I've not seen any new 'must have' features which would encourage me to change that approach... I can live with square corners a little longer ;) When one of my devices eventually fails its replacement, if I choose to replace, will no doubt be bundled with Windows 11 anyway. Must admit to being tempted to giving Linux a spin though anyway.....

My desktop is Windows 11 compatible, but I will probably stick with Windows 10 for at least the next two or three years for two reasons: (1) There are no Win11 features I'm interested in, (2) Win10 works as expected here, so there is no need to use Win11 (never change a running system). Apart from that, I want MS first to iron out at least the major Win11-related bugs before I'm willing to give it a try.

On two laptops I have several Windows instances installed (via TeraByte BootIt-UEFI), and data in a separate partition D.
Where Windows is in a less than 64GB partition, I get the same red Storage Available warning as @TairikuOkami in #177 with WhyNotWin11, but M$ PC Health Check says :thumb:.

Hope Win 11 install won't insist on 64 GB C: partition, considering vanilla Win 10 uses < 25 GB (?) and my data is held elsewhere ... ?
Would just be a waste of SSD space!

Windows 11 doesn't support CPUs older than 8th gen for Intel or 2nd gen for Ryzen.

Well, as someone who has been running Windows 11 in its basic state for 3 1/2 days now, you are not missing much.

The novelty wore off in like one day. The revised Start Menu is nice, I do like that. But that's basically it. Even though my machine was cleared to run 11, I'm beginning to resent the hell out of Microsoft for its "mysterious" ways. Not to mention the potential major additions to toxic landfills around the globe.

At this point I may refuse it on the one PC I have that will run it just for the sake of consistency. We'll see if that changes when we get closer but again as they are claiming upgraders don't get it until 2022 anyway there is no rush to get excited about anything.

If you don't meet the hardware requirements you cannot get on the Dev channel as a new user.

I haven't finished installing this from the Dev channel yet though it was offered to ma and is installing. Per this changelog it looks like there are indeed issues with the widgets so the problems you were seeing likely weren't a "just you" situation.

Yes, it seems to be the case. Just updated to the released build 22000.51 (went fairly well and installed successfully over the "leaked" build, thank goodness) and the Widgets issue persists but your Neowin link already covered that angle. Dism doesn't fix it nor does SFC. So, telemetry will have to handle it for now.

Edit: the Store got a make-over. Looks almost like a browser now. Sort of like Edge. For some reason I can't upload an image--says it's "too large." Don't understand this, I even shrank it to 14%. Oh well, have to take my word for it.

I just finished my install. Over the Windows 10 Dev build I had previously. I will probably just scrap the leaked build I had in a VM. Everything looks reasonably good at first glance. Time for some testing.

Edit: I see the updated setting app and updated UAC prompts are included. A bit more polished than the leaked build As this is activated I can now enable dark mode. Still not as complete as I expected.

It'll get better, it's still a "diamond in the rough." I solved my Widgets issue--all it needed was to be toggled to ON in the Taskbar Settings (right click on Taskbar). Then Windows Key + W brings it right up without issues. I feel a little silly but who knew?

Good news. MS said on Twitter they will consider adding support for 7th generation CPUs!

@plat1098 Love that wallpaper can you share it please?

@aigle I hope so. It would enable me to wait another year or so before upgrading my company's laptops to something new.
