It's s shame that recent macOS releases don't support older Macs. The oldest Macs this new version of macOS will run on are Mac Pros from late 2013 and only MacBooks released in early 2016 and later are supported. On the other hand, I'm running Windows 10 on some laptops released in 2006, and it runs very well on them. While that's a rather extreme example, the desktop I use just about every day for testing antiviruses, was released at the end of 2010 and the main computer I use, was made in 2013 and both of them are running Windows 10.

I have also read that certain features from the new macOS will only work on M1 machines, so people who bought Intel based Mac's are now a bit angry.

Yeah, I saw that some people were angry and were already calling it "planned obsolescence" and whatnot. There's just no pleasing everyone. What did they think was the point of the 16-core neural engine on the M1. Just there taking up space?

As far as I know, Intel x86 chips do not have any corollary components. So just how is Apple supposed to code things utilizing it back on Intel x86 hardware? Use software emulation of the missing machine learning hardware? Without dedicated hardware, it probably would be quite slow, and wouldn't be worth Apple's time given that they are transitioning away from Intel. It's all-new features anyway. So it's not like Apple is breaking something that used to work for people... it's simply that if you aren't on the latest hardware you might not get the latest OS features. And I'm ok with that... and I run an Intel-based Mac.

Yes I guess this is true. The M1 has certain features that the Intel CPU's don't have. But it's still a bit of a bummer for people who have bought an Intel based Mac just before the M1 was announced. So I can somewhat understand it.
