I always restore Windows Firewall defaults, but NEVER clean install, unless I'm troubleshooting a problem. And I haven't had any problems for many, many version updates...
On my Win 10 Pro E8400/G35 rust bucket test system running 20H2 Pro, I decided to install 2.3.323 over .318 using the "Restore Windows Firewall Default Settings" option for the first time since a start-from-scratch 2.2.201 install in May 2020, that being the first v2.2. (In a "just to be sure" mode I decided to Revo Pro advanced uninstall 2.1.167, the final v2.1 from Oct 2019. And "just for grins" if Revo would zap all the GW stuff. It did.) In viewing the before and after Defender's advanced settings, all 92 GW rules were still present. As well, all resident Defender rules seemed identical. "Seemed" as I'm not going to dig into this any further as I never do that default settings thing. Cheers.
I followed your [recent] earlier advice of the other day, posted above, and decided to do a reset of Windows Firewall. I can't win.
Correct, they couldn't be activated. But to be fair even with those features I probably still wouldn't have liked GlassWire. Sometimes you just don't like certain apps, I had the same with AppGuard, it had a lot of fans on this forum, but I hated it, too complex for me. For network monitoring and inbound/outbound control I would rather use tools like SpyShelter, TinyWall and Windows Firewall Control.
Forum helper Ken_GlassWire invites Windows 11 martyrs users to post up their GW experiences in this topic: https://forum.glasswire.com/t/glasswire-and-windows-11-preview/12208 Cheers.

Glasswire 2.3.343 Released (September 20, 2021) Download Changelog Spoiler: Changes 2.3.343 Version 2.3.343 - (September 20, 2021) Hash Full # 48748BB5CF39E3899D01DB6F077224639B46778E62D9209A2E5B61DE41CE2790 Hash Lite # B79A5C6141EAC319B939867C8A1F8CFD2999EF9024E0A50B8D3BC52962D7DEFB GlassWire alerts are now completely redesigned! Now you can manage your alerts in a much easier way. Set unimportant alerts as "logs" where they don't show up on the desktop, then set other alerts as "important" where they do. Go to our alerts pane, then go to the top left and click the small settings icon. Next choose "alerts settings" to set up any security alerts however you prefer! GlassWire "while you were away" summaries now appear on the alerts pane. Some alerts are now on by default for new users, but the less important alerts appear under the alerts "logs" area. Receive a lot of GlassWire alerts at once? Now the alerts are stacked one on top of each other, so they don't take up so much of your screen real estate. It's now possible to make alerts unread. Mouse over the alert you want to make unread, then click the three dot menu on the right side. Many other fixes and improvements. Find an issue? Let us know in our forum, or email us.

Glasswire 2.3.367 Released (November 17, 2021) Download Changelog Spoiler: Changes 2.3.367 Version 2.3.367 - (November 17, 2021) Hash Full # B9C9AC8716B1D55C5117A017D5C5A67F9C59E802C3AE8D55A82E4C53C900FD40 Hash Lite # E31BB3155047CD05DE6221AF9B1FFDD5ACEB632155F33C60BC6366883D85F64F Fixed a bug where GlassWire would crash for some users in some specific situations. Fixed an issue that could cause a Windows Defender false positive when GlassWire is in "ask to connect" mode, due to helpful reporting of GlassWire fans in the forum.
Hi I dunno why Glasswire and Evorim Firewall does the same behavior. For example, when installing Hibit Uninstaller. After installing, i manually check new updates. Cheking updates causes Hibit Uninstaller "network error" and after that Glasswire/Evorim Firewall popup window cames to as allow or not. But when using comodo firewall, ask/deny popup window comes instantly. There's no delay. I dont know what causes this of these two firewalls, but its quite annoying.
I have GlassWire Elite (3) lifetime licenses, but I don't use GW for the reasons you have pointed out. GlassWire kind of "blocks" the connection, and you have to restart the application or re-initiate the update process after hitting allow on the GW alert. Comodo Firewall kind of "pauses" the connection and the application connects or the update process successfully completes after hitting allow on the CFW alert. I had mentioned it to the GW developer. He replied, "The Windows API we use doesn't do that, but perhaps we can find a way to do so in the future. Really, it depends on the app you are blocking."
