Nobody whatsoever believed me when I said Windows would eventually come out with a version 11. My guess was correct.

In fact a few were quite adamant about that prospect. But anyone with half a brain who is been on Windows since 98 or even before had to know it was a real possibility if not completely likely the next level would be coming. I rest my case.

Besides, what's more better for marketing & sales than looking forward to new and improved products in natural version series progression. :isay: But where the heck did 9 go.

If they was really smart they could repackage 8.1 with super improvements, throw in Edge and Micro Defender AV and sell the heck out of Windows 9 as an alternative factor for those diehard committed customers of it.

I actually like that look in the article there, esp. the icons in the middle of the taskbar. Hope it turns out like that.

I have W10 to where I want it, processes blocked that I don't want running, biometrics blocked, and other stuff. I don't feel like going through a whole new OS to do the same thing with probably more bloat and spyware on it..

Honestly. I can totally relate. Windows is always (to me anyway)(Out-Of-Box Default) so "unremarkable" in many various ways. As a fierce customizer of the aesthetics (and I don't mean Theme or such), it takes dedicated hours on end to fashion replace folders, files icons to personal user preferences. (Not to mention assists in simpler finding folders/files). Then box up the registry with those settings with a backup (in event of common windows update overwrite).

And to that end doesn't even begin thru trial & error to fit your perfect security setup and other matters of importance.

Not that we will ever get use to it but here comes a whole new time & efforts curve with another new release.
(first project on this end is to dress it up so I can stomach a more next generation 21st century personal computing platform)

I don't like anything about it. May be time for me to go macOS or re-learn Linux as it has been quite a few years for me.

You need Secure Boot and 4GB of RAM, to run Windows 11.

Thanks, let's see if i can get it to triple boot with my current test setup (windows 10 & Manjaro Linux). Sure it will fkd my Grub menu, but you can easily boot with Manjaro Live USB to install Grub again.

I'd rather just keep Windows 10 until it goes EOL in 2025 than either of those options.

Oh wow, just read that Secure Boot is a requirement of Windows 11. I'm kind of afraid to manually make the keys for my ASUS board, I've never done it before. Did view some YouTube videos but that didn't make it any less objectionable.

Def. not on "board" with this....:cautious:

Yeah, for sure not my daily driver, just want to peek up the new ui and if they finally add some kind of a tampering protection to windows firewall, for example:
-prevent to disable windows firewall dure reboot stage
-prevent disabling and making windows firewall rules during boot-up sequence
-prevent using cmd during boot-up stage to reset/abuse windows firewall components by using LOLbins

    What i recommend:
-Never ever use a firewall that is base on the Windows own firewall
-Use a software firewall that uses its own firewall driver (Symantec, ZoneAlarm, Comodo)

I'm not sure what the actual issue is that started that claim but I just found a copy and installed it in a VM without secure boot and it works fine so I wouldn't panic about it yet.

is fast and light like w10 or more?
the start button could be moved to the left?
if I may , what is your opinion about this leak release?
    thanks

It runs pretty smoothly. I was actually surprised as I expected to be less polished than it was. That said it is a VM so it should run even better on a real machine but I'm not doing that until the release. I have not activated it since I expect this to drop in the Dev Channel sooner than later and I don't want to burn a license to activate this now when I should have an activated copy then. As it is not activated I cannot customize the UI so moving the start button is not currently an option for me.

I mostly installed this to see how it handled some in-house software we create and so far it looks pretty good. I don't mind the centered taskbar icons as much as I thought I would but may still look to move them when this goes final. Overall I like it.

    Edit:
Just to verify I looked at the settings and there is an option for Taskbar alignment, it is just disabled for me as it is not activated. It obviously defaults to "Center".
