I have a license for the Sandboxie 64 that I have not tried. Seeing that someone thinks it can replace Shadow Defender, is this correct? Is Sandboxie complicated to use, because as you can see, this field is new to me. :thumb:

    @pernu
Most times when I fire up Shadow Defender to test something, for example a new browser, I run the browser Sandboxied inside Shadow Defender.
I sometimes use both softwares at the same time. It's a habit now :)

Both of them have a place on my machines. I always go online Sandboxed and I test new software in Shadow Defender.

Huh? I thought Sandboxie didn’t require a license right now.

how do you test sw that requires a reboot? that's where sd and sbie fall short and vm's come into play.

Shadow Defender uses a "reboot & restore" technology. Sandboxie uses sandbox technology.

I don't think these two products should be compared directly.

Shade Sandbox https://shadesandbox.com/ is not Sandboxie Plus https://sandboxie-plus.com/

Sandboxie is free now a days. If it can replace it will depend on your usage because they are very different, only few similarities.

It depends on your needs. In essence I can say exactly the same as stapp in his above post:

    - For browsing / using the Internet I use Sandboxie.
    - For testing software I use Shadow Defender

For both uses I would not like to replace one for the other:
    - Testing software within a sandbox may often be more complicated than doing it with Shadow Defender.

    - On the other hand, using Shadow Defender for surfing in the Internet would not give me the restricted environment for browsing as Sandboxie does. As a consequence, it would be necessary to restart the computer whenever I want to set it into a "clean" condition after an Internet session. That's cumbersome. Whereas with Sandboxie it is sufficient to close the (sandboxed) browser (and to empty the sandbox [which happens automatically if you choose the appropriate option]).

No, it is not complicated at all to use. A little bit complicated may only be the first configuration of a sandbox if you want to use it in a more restricted way than with the standard settings. But for this you can find instructions in the Internet and also information in older postings here in the Forum respectively support by experienced members.

I tried Sandboxie today and it worked very well, but I could not use qBittorrent together with my firefox browser. I started to dowload a torrent with Firefox in Sandboxie, and I also put qBittorrent in Sandboxie, but it did not start to dowload? :thumbd:

ToolWiz Time freeze still works on W10 - http://www.toolwiz.com/lead/products/
It is just like Shadow Defender and, free.

It does not have the limitations that S-boxie has, depending on usage.

Yes, it's similar in tasks but according to system disk only.
