    I have two questions.

I presently own multiple copies of V6 and V7.

    Question 1:

Right now, I am trying to get V7 to burn automated to either a CD or a DVD.
So far, with InCD, I have gotten it to work to a DVD *however* even if the DVD is blank, it pops up an "insert media and press ok" message on a scheduled backup. I want the image to be created automatically at midnight and just overwrite what is there. Is there ANY way to get it to NOT wait for a key/mouse click? The backup image in question only comes out to about 3.5Gb in size after compression so it will always fit on one DVD. I don't really even object if I have to blank the DVD manually before I leave -- I just want the backup to go off in the evenings once everyone is gone!

    Question 2:

I am thinking of upgrading to V8 and noticed that it no longer backs up the hibernation file. For the standalone CD version, is there any option to override this and STILL have it backup the hiberfil? I currently use V6 to do this for a "hot boot" test platform I have created -- and the Hiberfil needs to be backed up (i.e. I hibernate the box and THEN create the image using the standalone CD). This allows me to save a system from a known state during testing and create a permanent backup of the exact system state that I can then restore later on. If this is NOT possible, I can just keep using V6 for now, but I think this should really be a user selectable option.

(also is there a true "sector by sector" mode in Acronis, like Ghost has? I have some development tools that actually store data in weird ways for the registration key and to be able to restore my system FULLY I need to be able write every file back to the exact same sectors and also write data back even to the sectors marked as unused)

    Hello mdburkey,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/).

    1) The only possible workaround for this problem now is to create the backup image onto your hard disk drive and then burn it to DVD disc. The thing is that Acronis True Image doesn't support writing to DVD discs without using a third-party software. As soon as our Development Team fully support DVD-writing this issue will be resolved.

    2) We regret to inform you that there is no option to include hibernation files into image in the current version of Acronis True Image. We will try to include this enhancement (to allow the user to decide whether he wants to exclude/include or not) in the future versions of Acronis True Image.

    3) Sector-by-sector problem. This is the subject for another enhancement. The current version of Acronis True Image uses sector-by-sector mode only when it cannot recognize the file system or if the file system is damaged.

Thank you for your feedback. We do really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

    Hello Andrew

Thank you for that interesting piece of information. Seems I (and others) was under the wrong impression that TI always carried out sector based imaging.

    Kind regards

    Hello Menorcaman,

    You got me wrong.

Acronis True Image _always_ images sectors. The thing is that it images only sectors marked as used. Sector-by-sector mode implies that the program should image all sectors irrespective of the used or unused mark.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the clarification Andrew. I failed to spot the subtle difference between sector imaging mode and sector-by-sector imaging mode

    Regards

Thanks for the response, I just wish it had been the one I wanted... :'(

    Oh well.

I love Acronis and hope how soon you can add these features, but for now I guess I'll have to keep a copy of Ghost 2003 handy.

Would there be any hope that these features might make it into a build/update release?

(At least for the sector by sector imaging issue, I'd almost put money that an option to force it into this mode exists somewhere and is just disabled or undocumented -- I'm a software engineer myself and the feature would almost have to be there for test purposes.)
