I am using Waterfox Classic (among other browsers). I am wondering what other people are using to "clean" it. Ccleaner used to work on it when Waterfox shared a profile with Firefox. I haven't used an updated ccleaner in a while. So what do people use on Waterfox these days?
FWIW ~ Um, can you use Custom Files and Folders? https://www.ccleaner.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/including-files-and-folders-for-cleaning How to clean user data from non-standard Mozilla browsers https://www.ccleaner.com/docs/cclea...-user-data-from-non-standard-mozilla-browsers Adding Waterfox Web Browser to clean it like Firefox https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/54146-adding-waterfox-web-browser-to-clean-it-like-firefox/
Thanks bjm_ , that is basically what I have done. There are easily found tutorials to aim ccleaner at the Waterfox profile folder and trick ccleaner into thinking it is cleaning Firefox. I did this, and it worked, but... I don't trust ccleaner any more and had been using an older "trusted" version. It worked for a while, but then I realized ccleaner was not cleaning Waterfox. (Again, maybe new versions DO clean Waterfox, but PSA: if you use Waterfox (awesome browser) and maybe other non-mainstream browsers, and you use ccleaner or the like, you should confirm it is actually cleaning the browser. For me, it wasn't.) That is when I used an online tutorial to point ccleaner at the Waterfox profile. It cleaned A LOT! But it trashed a few things in Waterfox. I think using an older version of ccleaner was OK for a while, but is now bad. But I still don't trust the newer versions either after stuff they pulled a few years ago. So: 1) Is ccleaner now trustworthy? 2) Is there something better that can clean a complicated Waterfox Classic profile with a lot of tabs, customizing, and XUL addons? I think solitarios above is suggesting we just use built-in tools. That may be the compromise we have to do. So thanks for that! And sorry I have not been around as much the last few years. I still come by and lurk from time to time.
