    Hi David,

the SBIE2101 error is gone with V5.49.7. Sticky password now starts fine, but as soon as I go to SP settings the program crashes! Crashes also happen intermittently, especially if I start my Palemoon browser in another sandbox.

    Going back to 5.49.0 again...

    Cheers

    Max

I am using V5.49.5 which is working great I have a question looking for a potential way to get a program to install that s not installing in sandboxie but will install outside. I also tested on an old 5.30 version I have on a laptop same issue so nothing new in the updates.

The installer extracts/unpacks a file to a subfolder in %temp% and then is supposed to pause and start a sub install which add those elements before coming back and wrapping up the main install dialog. In Sandboxie it always gets to extract then fail/abort failing to kick off the secondary install. I tried as admin and I removed what restrictions I know it almost acts like a popup stopper suppressing the program. Is there any way I can allow this to happen during the install phase, force allow that extracted program?

For now I worked around it by installing the majority of the program manually (running the extracted secondary file myself) and then installing it fully from source in a VM and copying the missing installed files back to the sandbox but would like to figure out how to do this for future testing.

I installed SB 5.49 with the provisional driver and it seems to work fine. I was running 5.36. When I was running 5.36, I was using Firefox as my default browser. I could use the "run sandboxed" link without issue. I needed to install Chrome for a personal reason. Chrome then took over the browser that was launched when I used the "run sandboxed" link. After accomplishing what I needed to do with Chrome, I uninstalled it. Now I get messages popping up when I try to use that shortcut. After uninstalling SB5.36 and installing 5.49, I still get messages. I get an error message saying that I am trying to open an “application extension” .dll. Choosing the “open with”, I get a list of programs to choose from. I chose Firefox and then get the message that Windows cannot open the file “shell32.dll”.

    Hi David,

I would like to report an issue involving Sandboxie Classic and Brave browser. I believe this issue came up following the latest Brave update a few days ago.

When I try to run Brave sandboxed, all I get is a blank page displaying “Error code: STATUS_ACCES_VIOLATION” (see screenshot attached) and Sandboxie displays the following error message:

Can anyone confirm that this issue is related to latest Brave update?

Many thanks to David for keeping Sandboxie alive!

    Pierre

    Sandboxie Classic version: 5.49.7

    Brave version: 1.23.71 (Chromium: 90.0.4430.72)

Sandbox settings for Brave browser: default

    O.S.: Win10 Pro x64 (version 20H2)

I am having this same issue after updating Brave to the latest version (1.23.71) - Using the latest Sandboxie Classic version (5.49.7).

Whether it's related to the Brave update or not I am not sure - I've tested with a fresh sandbox and Brave and the issues are still present.

Right now I'm using the --no-sandbox switch as a temporary workaround.

I am not sure if I am correct, but I think that there are two threads now which are both determined for Sandboxie Plus and Sandboxie Classic:
    - Originally https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...sbie-fork-versions-with-signed-driver.434924/ (created by David on Dec 7th 2020)
    - Later https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-0-7.436454/ (created by David on Feb 15th 2021)

I assume David's decision to open the second thread has to do with what he wrote on February 11th 2021:
So now users seem to write about David's versions either in the one or the other thread. David himself informs about the latest builds in the second thread. But Plus and Classic are still regarded as "siblings" - both in the two threads and in David's new releases (e.g. "Release v0.7.4 / 5.49.7").

If my above assumptions are correct, I would say: Where you like (in one of the two threads). If you want to be near by David's current builds, I would prefer the second one. ;)

Currently using SP 0.7.4. There's sometimes errors when deleting contents of sandboxes and sometimes errors when using the command to terminate all processes in one box. I haven't used auto-delete in a long time.

but overall, everything is running smoothly.

    Hi David.
    Current Setup:
    Win 10 64 bit laptop.
    Running 5.49.7
    Plus is 0.7.4

The issue I will describe will happening on 5.49.0 and 0.7.2. I first encountered the issue with these versions, then upgraded and still have the problem. Running Vivaldi 3.8.2259.37 caused a crash of the browser. Vivaldi v37 was running fine but doing an upgrade of it cause the state to change and the problems arrived. I upgraded the browser in the host, and tried to launch in a sandbox with a failure message of:

SBIE2101 Object name not found: Unnamed object, error OpenProcess (C0000022) access=001FFFFF initialized=1
    SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000001; MsgId: 15 - WerFault.exe [FF000000]
SBIE2101 Object name not found: Unnamed object, error OpenProcess (C0000022) access=001FFFFF initialized=1
    SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000001; MsgId: 15 - WerFault.exe [FF000000]

    SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000001; MsgId: 15 - WerFault.exe [FF000000]

This is current state. I do not recall getting an error message in 5.49.0.
I ensured Chrome was updated to see maybe it was newer Chromium version and that worked loaded correctly in its sandbox. Chrome version is 90.0.4430.93.

There are no old sandbox folders with data on my machine, as I store my folders in a RAMDisk and have tried to fix this issue by deleting the sandboxes and rebooting.

I disabled all extensions in Vivaldi yet this did not improve the outcome.

I am writing this in FF 88.0, and no issue here.

I then downloaded Brave (version matches Chrome, but says Chromium 1.23.75) and I get the same messages as Vivaldi.

Thanks in advance for your help. Tell me how I can help troubleshoot.

I have the same problem with Vivaldi.
I can't run Vivaldi in Sandboxie.

    It's never happened before.
    Sandboxie v.5.49.7
    Vivaldi 3.8.2259.37

I've just tried an old trick.
I've renamed vivaldi.exe to firefox.exe and was able to open Vivaldi in Sandboxie.

I can confirm @zmechys's astonishing observation, but I have no idea why it happens.
    * Duplicate vivaldi.exe as firefox.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Vivaldi\Application.
    * Turn on Sandboxie forcing for Vivaldi, and empty the associated DefaultBox.
    * Click vivaldi.exe --> error messages.
    * Click firefox.exe --> Vivaldi opens in DefaultBox.
--- Without closing Vivaldi, click vivaldi.exe --> Vivaldi opens another instance in DefaultBox.
--- But Runbox --> Sandboxie /Box:DefaultBox Vivaldi fails silently (both commands are aliases). (That's not a smiley, it's : followed by D.)
    * Close both instances, click vivaldi.exe --> error messages, as before.
    (Vivaldi.3.8.2259.37.x64 and Sandboxie-Plus-x64-v0.7.4)

I have the same problem with Vivaldi 3.8, it refuses to run sandboxed. I have this problem with Sandboxie 5.33.3 (from Sophos) and Sandboxie 5.45 on both Win 8.1 and Win 10. So seems like something has changed in the newest Chromium engine. I didn't try the "rename trick", but I wonder how on earth this could make Vivaldi 3.8 run succesfully?

Sandboxie-Plus prevents CCleaner from deleting sandbox contents

I had Sandboxie-Classic V5.49.7 running perfectly with four sandboxes under Windows 10 20H2. In particular, I had set CCleaner to custom-clean the contents of the four sandboxes whenever I ran it. Then a fortnight ago I upgraded to Sandboxie-Plus V0.7.4.

Today I created a fifth sandbox within Plus, and I added this new sandbox to CCleaner's list of custom-cleans. CCleaner still deletes everything from the original four sandboxes. But not so in the new sandbox.
    * CCleaner will not delete the contents of the fifth sandbox, apart from the registry files and any other random file that I copy into it manually.
    * On the other hand, Eraser deletes all the contents, and so does the ordinary Windows delete.

It looks as if Sandboxie-plus has placed some sort of guard on the files, but if so:
    * Why does it guard against CCleaner, and not against Windows and Eraser?
    * Why does the new sandbox behave differently from the old four that were created years ago with Classic?

It's easy to work around this within my shortcut buttons by using Eraser or Windows to delete the contents of all five sandboxes, but I have no idea what is going on (I'm a non-techie).

Yes, if I click your links, Firefox shows the same blaring red page, courtesy of Google Safe Browsing.

Just tried it again clicking from within the GitHub page. You are right and I'm not. I'll submit a report too then if it helps to get this cleared up.
