Very interesting. I’ve tried KDE many years ago, maybe I should give it another try. What distro do you suggest? Ubuntu? Netrunner?
This is exactly why I use KDE, it's miles ahead of anything else out there. Customizable, functional, beautiful, fast (specially for gaming), and surprisingly light weight (my Kubuntu desktop starts with only 350 MB of RAM used). It has all the programs a DE needs and they all work beautifully, none seem limited and they all make sense. The only thing I don't use, on any DE, is the integrated software management. I think MATE has the prettiest store out there (Software Boutique) but I don't use it there either. I prefer installing stuff via the Terminal or via Synaptic. Force of habit, I guess.
fblais, I use Kubuntu for serious Linux stuff, you can try also KDE neon for a "pure" test experience with Plasma. Mrk
For speed the unbeatable Calculate 21 (Gentoo based but still easy enough to manage) otherwise Q4OS for minimal then add what you like or Neptune for a complete distro. If you prefer .rpm to Debian (the last two) look at the Alt K9 desktop. Their site is a real pain to navigate with so many different products but the KDE desktop ISO is a class act. http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/p9/images/kworkstation/ The main release can be a bit iffy to boot on some hardware in which case try one of the 'starter kit' images. http://nightly.altlinux.org/p9/release/ I'd also add the Core version of Netrunner but this distro's history is too messed up to instill much long term confidence.
