You can only do that because the app comes preinstalled with Windows 10. Without the app installed, you can't access OneDrive from Windows Explorer.

It has even become worse, I now see that MS OneDrive has also messed up folders in Windows Explorer. Now I can't access the Documents folders anymore via the standard icon so I had to create a new shortcut on my desktop. This is disgusting, doesn't M$ feel any shame, how can they come up with crap like this? Uninstalling OneDrive didn't fix it, so perhaps I need to reinstall and change some settings or something?

Can you perhaps give me some info about the mess that I described? I found at least one person who had the same problem but I can't find any solution in that thread, see link.

I can't help you with that. I've only used OneDrive once and uninstalled it long ago from the main computer I use.

I like pcloud. But, truth be told, I recently rcloned everything from pcloud to an unlimited gdrive because I needed the space. As long as the sensitive things are encrypted then gdrive is fine.

I don't even know if this should be called a bug, I think it's just crappy design. I have also noticed that certain files like my password database from Enpass and configuration file from TinyResMeter have somehow been deleted, I'm guessing it's because of OneDrive. Be very careful with this piece of garbage, that's my advice.

OK cool, so it isn't just me. I will try to reinstall OneDrive and then I will follow the instructions, thanks for the help.

    OK, I see.

I'm afraid that it didn't really work, I installed OneDrive again, and once again it somehow started to mess around with the Documents and Desktop folder, I unlinked my PC, deleted all files via the web interface, but I'm still getting to see stupid duplicate folders created by OneDrive and they can't be deleted, it's pure garbage. The good news is that the Google Drive app does work the way I want it to, it simply creates a Google Drive folder in Windows Explorer and doesn't messes around with any other folder.

No I probably didn't do this, but I don't think I will mess around with this piece of junk again.

For new accounts, that's true. But if you already have one, or you can get someone that already has one to make a "drive" for you, then you'll be grandfathered in.

Yes it might do the trick, but I think I will leave it alone, I now have two extra folders named Documents and Desktop, I can live with that I guess. I'm guessing that if I install OneDrive again, it will once again mess up my desktop, it's garbage!
