@Brummelchen I was thinking about no-MS-involved method. Fossbytes article mentioned apps like AirDroid or ApowerMirror. Have anyone used them?
ApowerMirror/AirDroid needs Device and Windows Installation (Server <> Client) while "Link to Windows" only on Android/iOS. they work different. Looks like a normal Remote Connection. But - i think Windows 10 has a pre-installed setting or tool which is able to handle such connections, windows 8 seems to have not. Windows 10 is so much larger behind the scene, even to handle a Linux subsystem (WSL). And now they are going to implement an android sub system to emulate apps. (project "LATTE"). this is on-top "link to windows", no longer only remote. as linked Samsung devices already own this native connection without another app, thats the point. no additional license to buy, just connect and get ready. (for me i wont use it, no need for me, and i avoid using a microsoft account for linked reasons, i dont like to get busted)
Guess I'm out of luck because I have none of the phones listed. Mine is a T-Mobile Revvl, made by Motorola, because I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars or a grand for a telephone. I can't see the point of linking them anyway. If I ever wanted to get, say, a photo from the phone to the PC, I can do it now. The rest is fluff. Actually, I don't need the phone but wife insists that 'at my age,' it's a good idea to have one. I've made 4 calls on it in 3 yrs.
