Same here. I installed KIS 21.2 the other day and also got this warning, so this has not been fixed yet by KL. Why does Kaspersky regard an update checker as incompatilble with KL products? You still find SUMo in Kaspersky's list of incompatible apps. Why? KIS: https://support.kaspersky.com/us/15516#block1 KES: https://support.kaspersky.com/KESWin/11.5.0/Incompatible.txt/incompatible.txt
Probably has something to do with KIS having its own update checker. Dunno how extensive the list of programs it checks is. The only program that does not auto update on the PC that I have KIS installed on is CCleaner, and KIS will auto update CCleaner. I was surprised to see this. It's a "hidden feature".
Maybe you're right. At least I cannot come up with better explanation. I asked the same question on the KL forum, waiting for an official response by a KL representative (but I don't really think I will get a reply from them). PS: I think that Kaspersky's update checker is no longer supported by KL, so why do they still consider it incompatible with KIS products or their update checker in particular? Strange.
I agree. There is no need to have it on that list. Kaspersky probably just wanted to promote their update checker but SUMo detects updates for much more software for me.
Here is the place where you should complain too : https://community.kaspersky.com/kaspersky-corporate-products-27/kes-11-not-compatible-with-sumo-3055
Yes, that's bad move from K. I will also reinstall it and open new support ticket. Maybe they just need few more tickets... Will share their reply here - if I get one.
Just posting an update about my suggestion to remove SUMo from incompatible list, sent to their support. They've sent suggestion to their HQ and got response that "software MAY not work properly and operating system errors MAY occur..." They've also sent me a link to list of incompatible software: https://support.kaspersky.com/15516#block1 I checked that list and AFAICT only SUMo is listed there but not other updaters. So I don't know how they determine that some software may cause problems and other not (without any of them actually causing problems). I guess that they won't change their mind about it.
I bet you the reason they have it on their incompatibility list is because SUMo is much much better than their own updater...
Yes, maybe they don't like competition, as I can't find technical reason for SUMo to be on that list. But I agree with you - it finds updates for much larger list of software than Kaspersky.
