PS- if you want to edit that JSON file, I would suggest you not use NOTEPAD as the visual layout is pretty tough to work with. I have been using Notepad2 instead for ease of visual representation.

Yes, this worked out. I was able to boot all my personalized Windows is except that Linux based Minitool Partition Wizard 9.1, I believe you know what iso it is.

 

I have PW v9.1 (Linux) & PW v12.1 (WinPE) in my ISO/Utility folder and it works just fine when Ventoy is BOOTed directly into CLI mode (edited JSON file), not changed into that mode after Ventoy comes up in its GUI mode.

I will test again just to be sure and let you know...

PS- I have seen occasional failures of ISOs when switching into TEXT mode rather than BOOTing into TEXT mode... I've never seen a failure when BOOTing directly into TEXT mode (GUI > CLI edit in the JSON)...

 

I just retested PW v9.1 Tech Edition BOOTing directly into CLI mode and it works just fine. It's only had 1-problem over time and that is that it doesn't support my particular wireless mouse, just a wired mouse I have laying around. It's always done that even as a RUFUS standalone UFD or a while back when I used it on CDs.

 

After further testing, the anomaly mentioned above may be a BiOS sensitivity issue. The GUI interface works absolutely fine on 2 of my 3 available test platforms, all having different BiOS authors and different chipsets. The only one of the three showing the anomaly is a HP ProDesk Desktop with a 4th gen i7 chipset (AMI BiOS), the two older units are just fine (one DELL i7 3rd gen and one Lenovo i5 2nd gen.

It looks like the Devs have some sort of BiOS initialization issue that causes a logical failure of every other ISO in use... don't know whether they're gonna be able to figure that one out. For the time being, it's CLI DEFAULT for me.

Amazing and simple program.
I tried to work previously with YUMI or Rufus but I ran into some problems when booting them into either one of my two computers (an Asus desktop PC and a DELL laptop) both running Windows 10
Using Ventoy, I built a UEFI bootable USB with various ISO files and tested it on my two computers. Worked well on both computers (with different UEFI).

The lonely problem is with the Ventoy windows that appears after booting, where the different ISO files are listed: all the letters of the file names have been replaced by "?", i.e. I got lines of "?" and I have to guess the program to run.
The list of the files on the USB, when opened through Windows,is OK.
What went wrong?

 

@samy - I've never personally seen that but all my VENTOY builds have been Legacy-MBR. You would probably do better at an answer for this problem over at the VENTOY Forums.

 

I found the error.
I copied a list of ISO files to the Ventoy drive and didn't pay attention that two of them were Not-bootable ones.
I reloaded the corrected list - run well.
