I'm curious to who is running macOS Big Sur and are they satisfied with it. I'm still running macOS Catalina and I'm very hesitate to upgrading to Big Sur due to the fact that in screen shots I seen of it. It looks more like an iPad than a Mac computer. Is there anyone that is satisfied running Big Sur or do they wish they would have stay with Catalina and why?
I'm still on Catalina as well, but I'm not really too concerned about the UI changes. I suspect those will be fine once I get used to them. No, I am usually slow to update because I have a desktop scanner that I use a lot and with some past OS upgrades it has stopped working correctly until new drivers become available. I tend to not upgrade until I get full confirmation that others with the same device have it working or that the vendor has updated the drivers.
Hi, I am running Big Sur and I am very happy with it. I bought a new M1 MacBook Pro earlier this year and it came with Big Sur. Before that, I was running Catalina on my old MacBook Pro. I am also very happy with the new Mac. I don't even mind the touch bar all that much now that I am getting used to it.
Big Sur rocks. You can change the wallpaper to something more traditionally 'Apple'. There aren't really that many aesthetic changes. It's working well for me.
Running macOS Big Sur without any regrets, but since I enjoy using my iPhone/iPad I might have less objections to its new UI. Only annoyance: Big Sur “forgets” the widgets configuration quite often...
If I'm reading this correctly, my Logitech MX Master S2 mouse will not be compatible with Big Sur? https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058693013 "Logitech Control Center (LCC) will be fully compatible with macOS 11 (Big Sur), but only for a limited period. MacOS 11 (Big Sur) support for Logitech Control Center (LCC) will end early 2021."
I checked other Apple forums & all are saying that the basic mouse functions will continue to work, but "customization" functions will not. Of course, it is Logitech's job, NOT Apple's, to develop the drivers for their products to run on Big Sur. My guess: Apple is closing down "doors" that are needed for drivers to execute the customized/special mouse functions, because those doors can also be used for malware. Just a guess. Logitech discussed this matter in their Blog. However, they gave no explanation of WHY this is happening. If this incompatibility is Apple's fault, Logitech's Blog should have made that fact perfectly clear. In any event, I'm sure that other Logitech users will complain to Apple and then, perhaps, the true situation will be revealed -- & (hopefully) remedied.
Still running Catalina. Its the last supported MacOS for the mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro Intel i5 dual core pre Retina and while I can upgrade my late 2013" MacBook 15" Intel i7 quad core Pro Retina to Big Sur, I just ran an in place upgrade from the original Maverick to Catalina. Tired of chasing after Apple with its constant MacOS updates. What's the point?
Since Catalina, all critical files are read only. Sudo doesn't work even when you're logged in as the admin. Security over convenience. Is there reason to upgrade?
