Thanks for the link soccerfan. Good to hear I'm not the only one still using the softperfect ramdisk.

Looks good, innerpeace. Make sure you only allow the access to firefox.exe.

You can test that the access is working by changing to trusted or default any domain while running Firefox sandboxed. You can import settings also, and the change will remain after deleting sandbox content. Or, change permissions in presets.

I did Bo (hope you're doing well my old friend) but not any more. I've used most in the link provided by soccerfan in the past though. Much of a muchness tbh but I largely used SoftPerfect before they reintroduced charging. The free version on Major Geeks and a few other places gives me blue screens on Win10 but I appreciate that's far from a universal position and it still works for most.

I nowadays put my SBIE container in its own small partition which is always in Shadow Defender shadow mode with 'ram used as write cache' (2GB) and 'encrypt write cache' enabled. Same effect bbut cutting down on additional software used as I've used SD for such a long time. Works well for me.

For info I still can't get SBIE plus to work for me but Classici 5.49 runs very well in this set-up as I'm sure 5.33.6 would.

    Regards

    Hi David:)

I am currently unable to use your latest Sandboxie software - I can download and install the Sandbox program. However, I get a missing Driver error.

As a user of Windows 8.1 Home Edition, I don't have the gpedit.msc option. I can disable driver signatures in advanced startup options, or by using bcdedit commands. I find this inconvenient...

Is it not possible to include the digitally signed driver? That would be a great help.

Best wishes always . I am very happy that you are continuing the devrlopment of Sandboxie-Plus. Good luck, Howard:) ScreenShot003.jpg ScreenShot009.jpg

If you right-click on the installer and select Properties and then the Compatibility tab, what operating system does it show the Compatibility Mode does it show it is running as? (If any)

Hi. What does this option do? global settings - advanced options - sandbox default - separate user folder (tick box). If I untick the box will all contents but openfilepath files/folders be written to my sandbox folder?

This looks like one of those changes that from my POV doesn't make any sense. If you post a picture, I might figure out what the setting is about. And give you my take. :)

Here you go. The only thing I changed was the file system root to my ramdisk. The other two options after the separate user folders are default and I assume they allow everything to be written to the ramdisk. No idea what the circled option does.

Edit: I'm guessing my answer is somewhere towards the very bottom of this page. Although I wouldn't understand what it means to my setup. https://sandboxie-plus.com/sandboxie/sandboxhierarchy/

@innerpeace. After looking at the screen for a couple of minutes. And coming back to it after a little while. I think what that screen means is that the "Other settings" and "Config protection" settings apply to the sandbox described and located in the top part of the screen.

The sandbox directory normally has two sub-folders:
    - "\user" which contains everything saved into a user profile and
    - "\drive" with everything else.
If the option "separate user folder" is disabled then "\user" is not used and everything will be put into "\drive".

    EDIT: Quoting from the changelog:
    Code:
    ## [0.2.2 / 5.41.2] - 2020-06-19

    ### Added
    - added option SeparateUserFolders=n to no longer have the user profile files stored separately in the sandbox

Thank you both for your help. I think I understand now. The reason I asked is because at one point I saw sandboxie had written to my ramdisk and ssd and thought it was because of that option. It was probably my fault for not deleting the sandbox on the ssd while I was getting changing options while setting everything up.

    Cheers

latest release working just fine with the security setup listed in my signature. Only I added each file of Sandboxie Plus into Avast's exclusions just to be safe. Not the folder, but each individual file of sandboxie plus.

One bug to report however. With HMP.A I'm unable to start the Tor browser inside of sandboxieplus. To get it to start I need to briefly turn the exploit mitigations off to allow the Tor Browser to start. once it starts loading and connecting, I'm able to turn the exploit mitigations back on and use it just fine.

And with or without HMP.A I'm still unable to use the 64 bit tor browser inside of sandboxie plus. I get an error about a DLL that can't load or something.

Known Sandboxie-issue. Use the 32 bits-version of Tor for now.

    See: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/issues/538

    Can’t help you with HitmanPro.Alert.

This build fixes many issues and improves on two important core mechanics.
Additionally it solves the signature issue with windows 7 the provisionally signed driver shouldn't be longer needed.

    Download: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/0.7.3

    ChangeLog
    Added
    • added "UseSbieWndStation=y" to emulate CreateDesktop for selected processes, not only for Firefox and Chrome
    • added option to drop the console host process integrity, now you can use "DropConHostIntegrity=y"
    • added option to easily add local templates
    Changed
    • reworked window hooking mechanism to improve performance
-- resolves issues with file save dialogs taking 30+ sec to open
-- this fix greatly improves the win32 GUI performance of sandboxed processes
    • reworked RPC resolver to be ini configurable
-- the following options are now deprecated:
      --- "UseRpcMgmtSetComTimeout=some.dll,n", so use "RpcPortBinding=some.dll,*,TimeOut=y"
      --- "OpenUPnP=y", "OpenBluetooth=y", "OpenSmartCard=n" use the new templates instead
-- See the Templates.ini for usage examples
    Fixed
    • fixed process-specific hooks being applied to all processes in a given sandbox
    • fixed issue with messages and templates sometimes not being properly displayed in the SandMan UI
    • fixed issue with compatibility settings not being applied properly
    • fixed auto delete issue that got introduced with 0.7.1
    • fixed issue with NtSetInformationFile, FileDispositionInformation resulting in Opera installer failing
    • fixed issue with MacType introduced in the 0.7.2 build
    • fixed global sandboxed windows hooks not working when window rename option is disabled
    • fixed issue with saving local templates
    • fixed issue when using runas to start a process that was created outside of the Sandboxie supervision
-- since the runas facility is not accessible by default, this did not constitute a security issue
-- to enable runas functionality, add "OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\SECLOGON" to your Sandboxie.ini
-- please take note that doing so may open other yet unknown issues
    • fixed a driver compatibility issue with Windows 10 32 bit Insider Preview Build 21337
    • fixed issues with driver signature for windows 7

Currently running Firefox latest 87.0 in SBIE Plus 0.7.3.

Still learning the ropes as the UI is, um, different from the classic but so far, so very good. If your default browser (in this case, Microsoft Edge) isn't configured for a sandbox, the UI offers the sandboxed option. Very elegant. And Firefox opens almost instantly.

    Welcome back, Sandboxie. :)

No problems so far running 5.49.5 after installing it over the top of the previous build.
Will do my other machine with Plus on later.

    Thanks David :)

I just found out that Sandboxie Plus is being distributed on lo4d(dot)com

Looks like Mr Xanatos' work is being noticed. Keep up the good work! You said you had a paypal on your website, right? where I can donate once without it being a reoccurring thing?

I installed 0.7.3, then I compared current sandboxie.ini version to the previous version looking for any change introduced. Two were introduced.

One line was added as expected in [GlobalSettings]

    Template=RpcPortBindings

But one line was deleted. A custom one: Template=FileSystemAPI

    I wonder why.
