I was going to ask same! I used to use it back in the day, but discontinued after some issues - maybe too 'aggressive' ... ?

I don't use it, but I do get regular emails asking me to donate to support its future development. In the past I have seen it have some issues with false positives. But it would be quite unusual if it didn't.

I used it years ago. it was a very successful program. I downloaded a 14-day trial. I think it's still a very good program. For $ 30, I bought licenses for up to 5 computers in a lifetime.

I hope they improved this app as I have fond memories how it broke my machine a couple of years back. I gave a try Advanced system care PRO recently (using giveaway) and I was impressed it performed pretty well without breaking anything.

Advanced SystemCare is safe to use, because as long as you don't check "Enable Deep Clean" in the registry cleaner settings, it won't delete any needed registry keys. However, fortunately this is disabled by default.

Kinda funny, there's "registry deep clean" feature, that's not recommended to use. Why such a feature is there in a first place anyway?
Well, i prefer Kerish Doc. However, when using the Doc, it does cause 1-5% CPU "spikes". Just disable "malware protection" feature of it, and it's working fine in the background doing its job.

Don't be fooled, roger doesn't recommend it, not IObit developer but as he is enough skilled in testing of apps there is no doubt his recommendation is justified. However in my case even deep cleaning botched nothing, perhaps I should say luckily. :)

I think it's unlikely that it would cause problems, but it certainly is possible as it does have issues with false positives. What did you disable in Kerish Doctor? Did you disable PC Protection entirely, or just some individual items within it?

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 6.0.0.1120 (March 25, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
    Change Log Since Build .1099
    Feature Improvements:
    1. New feature: jv16 PowerTools Widget allows you to see core system information directly from your Windows Desktop. It can either be a few pixel tall bar showing only basic CPU and RAM statistics, or larger tool for easy killing of apps.
    2. Major performance optimization: The Initial Setup, System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller all now work considerably faster. In most systems, the speed improvement will be minor, 5% on average on our testing systems. However, in some systems with specific content (e.g. specific installed third party software), the speed improvement can be over 20%.
    3. The dashboard now lists all system hard drives (previously only a maximum of two), and also shows their names and file system information.
    4. Added an option for the user to select whether to show hard drive information on the main app dashboard. The default setting is to show the hard drive information of the system disk only.
    5. Added options for the user to choose what kind of CPU and RAM data to see in the dashboard. You can adjust how the dashboard looks from the Settings window, or simply by Right Clicking the dashboard.
    6. The window bottom panel buttons now have the same right hand padding (empty space) as below the button. Purely a cosmetic improvement.
    7. Added a tip text to the Finder tool to let the user know they can write multiple search words at the same time by writing one search word per line.
    8. The program automatically now capitalizes the tool names in the main navigation menu, even if they are not capitalized in the translation files.
    Bug Fixes
    1. Running the System Cleaner scan or fixing could cause the program to quit without an error message, or freeze. This was a rare issue, only happening to about one in one hundred users.
    2. If there are no software requiring update, the Update button is not visible in Software Updater. This leaves only the Uninstall button visible, and it can be rather confusing why a tool called Software Updater only has an Uninstall button an no Update button. From now on, both buttons will be visible in the Software Updater, and clicking the Update button will display an error message if there is nothing to update.
    3. If using the classic window menu (Settings > General Settings > Use custom system menu for the main program window), some of the Tools menu buttons do not work.
    4. If the program starts in Chinese system, the Chinese translation is not automatically selected by the program.
    5. Some parts of the user interface are always in English, i.e. they cannot not be translated via the translation files.
    6. The program can entirely freeze up if a message box is displayed at a very specific time. This is a very rare bug which is caused by a race condition. Very specific conditions have to occur of this to show up, but if it does occur, it will freeze up the entire program and the program must be closed forcefully.
    7. The Settings window displays the options to enable or disable the result list filtering. However, this feature is not yet fully implemented, and therefore not available. Fixed by hiding these settings for now.
    8. The Initial Setup / Splash Screen or the actual app main window can show up with some elements, such as the window border or the top bar buttons not fully drawn. This was entirely a cosmetic problem, but fixed now nevertheless.
    9. Under some circumstances, the font sizes in the Initial Setup screen could be inconstant with some texts using slight bigger font than other texts. Purely a cosmetic issue.
    10. The Settings window still shows an option relating to the Back button, which no longer exists in the current UI. Fixed by removing the option.
    11. The Initial Setup / Splash screen can display a blank white line in some screen resolutions. A purely cosmetic issue. Fixed now.
    12. Using the Search feature in the tool result lists can cause the program to display Integer Overflow error message.
    13. Maximizing the main program window in Windows 7 can cause the window to go entirely blank.
    14. Under some cases, the Auto Updater could incorrectly save its log file to the Windows Desktop.
    15. Starting the Internet Optimizer can incorrectly say there is no internet connection, even if there is.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 6.0.0.1133 (April 8, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
    Release Notes for Version 6.0.0.1133
    Change Log Since Build .1120
    Feature Improvements:
    1. Major accuracy improvement: Software Uninstaller finds on average 25% more data relating to installed software, and System Cleaner contains a new registry cleaning scan module.
    2. Major performance improvements: Initial Setup now runs on average 20% faster and System Cleaner about 10% faster.
    3. The dashboard now shows whether your hard drives are old style mechanical hard drives or SSD. For SSDs, it will also show whether the drive is SATA SSD or NVMe SSD.
    4. The program now attempts to detect Windows shutdown and if one is detected, the program handles that more gracefully. This applies to both the main jv16 PowerTools and the Widget.
    5. You can now enable and disable an automated reboot within the scan progress screen for system cleaning and uninstallation of software.
    6. Improved the overall smoothness of the dashboard and the scan progress UI.
    7. The widget will now blend to the desktop background smoother after the mouse cursor leaves the Widget app area.
    8. This version comes with many updated translations, such as: Dutch, Swedish and Russian. German translation will be updated soon, too.
    Bug Fixes
    1. The program can display Access Violation and Privileged Instruction error message when starting, or when the Widget starts. This mainly happens with systems that have a third party application called WindowBlinds installed. This is a cosmetic issue, that is, it does not cause any harm to the system. Nevertheless, it is an annoying and it is now fixed.
    2. Uninstalling jv16 PowerTools can leave up to three Widget related files behind to the C:\Users\xx\AppData\Local\ directory. This is now fixed, and any previously left behind files will also be removed by this version’s uninstaller.
    3. The capitalization of some of the navigation menu items can be wrong when using the program in other than the English user interface.
    4. The Widget’s setting in jv16 PowerTools Settings window does not work properly. For example, you cannot re-enable Widget from the Settings if you have disabled it via its “Exit and never show again” feature.
    5. The tooltips shown by the left navigation panel mixes English with translated texts. This only happens a Non English UI is used.
    6. The dashboard can show gibberish (such as 0xB21A12) as the RAM manufacturer name.
    7. Automatic Updates. This feature has now been entirely re-written and it is now working. If enabled, you should automatically receive all the hotfix and small updates to the program from now on. Major new updates still require a manual download and installation.
    8. The program can display a cut message saying “if the download didn’t start, go to https://”. The message should include the correct address. This is now fixed.
    9. Software Uninstaller could incorrectly remove a shared software installation directory. For example, if you have Firefox and Thunderbird installed from Mozilla, uninstalling one can cause the incorrect removal of the shared c:\users\x\AppData\Local\Mozilla\ directory.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 6.1.0.1203 (June 17, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
    Release Notes for Version 6.1.0.1203
    Change Log Since Build 6.0.0.1133
    Feature Improvements:
    1. Major speed improvements to all the main features: Initial Setup, System Cleaner scan and Software Uninstaller scan. These speed improvements are focused on the outliner systems. In other words, the average speed of each tool remains about the same, but in systems which had terribly slow Initial Setup or Software Uninstaller scan times, there should be major improvements.
    2. Moved a lot of data processing from the main jv16 PowerTools executable to a helper executable residing in the same application folder. This improves data processing speeds and improves UI responsiveness, for example during Initial Setup.
    3. It is now possible to select multiple items from the result list using the Shift key. Click first item you wish to select, press down the Shift key and then click the second item, and all items between the two items will be selected.
    4. Added an option to select items by search word.
    5. The message boxes now allow you to select the text for easier copying. For example, when in Software Uninstaller > Right Click > Show all data, you can simply select and copy with Control + C the data you want.
    6. Added an option to open a running app’s folder. To do this, simply Right-Click the app in the Dashboard or Widget and choose Open in Explorer.
    7. The application and the widget now close down faster. Before, there could be a delay of few seconds.
    8. Improved the UI update smoothness of the Widget.
    9. It is now possible to select multiple items from the result list using the Shift key. Click first item you wish to select, press down the Shift key and then click the second item, and all items between the two items will be selected.
    10. Made the option of killing apps from the Dashboard or Widget easier to notice.
    11. If jv16 PowerTools is set to automatically start after software uninstallation reboot, the widget should not automatically start for a few seconds before the reboot happens.
    12. Improved the smoothness of the Initial Setup progress display.
    13. The Widget will now set its default data update speed based on the computer speed. Previously, the Widget could use 10%+ of CPU simply to update its data, because it was updating too frequently and with slower computers this would cause substantial CPU usage.
    14. Improved the classification of running apps within the Dashboard and Widget. These features should only list running user apps, previously they could sometimes also list system apps as they were not all correctly detected.
    15. Added an option to not show the Widget within its list of running apps.
    16. Keeping the mouse cursor over any apps of the Dashboard’s or the Widget’s will now display the app’s filename.
    17. Improved detection of Big Fish game launcher games.
    18. Saving the result list as a text file now also includes the column captions.
    19. Software Uninstaller will now display the installation size of small apps in KB, instead of saying 0 MB.
    20. Improved Software Uninstaller’s accuracy in detecting installed software data, such as publisher names.
    21. Added a select icon to the result lists, such as System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller to allow easier and faster selection of items.
    22. We have noticed some users not realizing that the jv16 PowerTools button at the top left corner of the app window is the main menu. We have now addressed this by adding a tip text about it.
    23. System Cleaner’s Domain Whitelist now also ignores sub-domains. Before, adding domain.com would only whitelist that, anything like subdomain.domain.com cookies could still be listed by System Cleaner.
    24. Clicking the Download button in Check For Updates screen will now take you to the direct download page. Before, the Change Log page of the new version was opened. Now the program has a separate button for opening that page to read more details of the new version.
    25. There can be a delay of a second or few after clicking the Start button in Finder. During this time, the app seems frozen. It’s not frozen, but this is not properly indicated. This is now addressed with an added Please Wait message and also by making the starting of search faster.
    26. Deleting a lot of data with the Finder result screen can take some time. However, during this time there is no progress indication. Addressed by adding a Please Wait message.
    27. Improved the Software Uninstaller’s ability to avoid automatic reboots when uninstalling software.
    28. Added an option to display the dates within the app in the format of year . month . day.
    29. Comes with many updated translations, including Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Swedish and Thai.
    Bug Fixes
    1. The System Cleaner can get stuck at 90% progress seemingly forever when scanning. This bug only affected some users, but for them, it was very annoying as it basically prevented them from using the tool.
    2. With some users, the program fails to start entirely, or it starts but the entire UI is unresponsive and clicking any of the tool buttons does nothing. This was a very rare bug with only six people reporting it. We were able analyze the problem and it was caused by specific hardware configuration causing the UI initialization code to fail. It’s now fixed.
    3. The hard disk type (HDD vs. SSD) detection in the main Dashboard does not work correctly in all systems.
    4. In some systems especially with a lot of registry errors, starting of the program can take unusually long.
    5. The Widget can display List Index Out of Bounds error message.
    6. When uninstalling software, the Software Updater icon can be incorrectly highlighted as the currently active tool in the navigation panel. This is purely a cosmetic issue.
    7. The English user interface contains a few typos and grammar mistakes. They should all be fixed now.
    8. Within Windows Control Panel’s remove apps, jv16 PowerTools version number can be incorrectly listed as 5.x, it should be 6.x.
    9. If you kill jv16 PowerTools using the X button from its Dashboard listing of apps, this does not start the Widget even though normally closing jv16 PowerTools would start it.
    10. The automatic sizing of the Widget window does not work properly.
    11. If you enter the Settings view in Widget, the Right Click menu will no longer display most of the Hide/Show menu items.
    12. The save button in Widget’s Settings view uses different colors compared to the other buttons in the Widget.
    13. In some screen sizes, the default jv16 PowerTools window size might be too tall, getting partially covered by the Windows taskbar.
    14. Starting the app with a command line parameter (such as jv16PT.exe -SoftwareUninstaller) does not always work.
    15. One System Cleaner scan module is called “Scan automatically while starting software”, which, makes no sense because of the incorrectly added word, it has now been fixed to “Scan automatically starting software”.
    16. Even with the Do not create any backups option selected from the Settings, the program can still create backups.
    17. Settings “Show search panel by default” does not work. Even if unchecked, the search panel is visible in the tool results view.
    18. It’s not possible to close the Search panel in Task Closer. Clicking the X button does not do anything.
    19. Settings “Show the reason why each item was found as invalid or safe to remove” does not work. That is, unchecking this option does not hide the reason column from System Cleaner UI.
    20. Using the Finder to search for only registry data causes the scan progress screen to still display file system paths and the program says these file system paths are being searched. This is a cosmetic bug, the file system paths are not searched if you tell the Finder to only look for registry data, however the user interface incorrectly says file system is also searched.
    21. Using the Right-Click menu is impossible in the message popup window because the menu gets automatically closed.
    22. Opening a registry key with Finder’s Right-Click menu option can show error message saying the registry key does not exist – even if it does exist.
    23. Software Updater does not display the number of items in the bottom left corner of the window status bar.
    24. The Widget has a small memory leak which causes its RAM usage to increase slowly but surely if it is running for a long time.
    25. Even when a tool is open, the tool’s navigation panel tooltip would say something like “click here to open the tool”. As the tool is already open, the tooltip could be confusing.
    26. When the navigation panel is minimized, the buttons may not display any tooltips at all.
    27. Killing an app with the Widget can sometimes kill it correctly, but it still remains listed as a running app (because the list does not get refreshed correctly).
    28. Using the result filter bar can cause the program to crash with an Access Violation error message.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 6.1.1.1216 (July 8, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
    Release Notes for Version 6.1.1.1216
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since 6.1.0 (build 1203)

    Feature Improvements:
    1. Scanning and cleaning speed of System Cleaner is now a lot faster.
    2. The program is now compatible with the upcoming Windows 11.
    3. Improved the Software Uninstaller’s ability to find and delete left-over data.
    4. The setup executable now also has the executable file information fields set, such as file comments.
    5. Reduced the size of log files created during System Cleaner usage.
    6. Added “Check For Updates” also to the Tools menu of the main window. Previously, it was only under the Help menu.
    7. Comes with updated Dutch, Polish, Russian and Swedish translations.
    Bug Fixes
    1. Performing a full system cleanup with the System Cleaner can take a very long time, with the progress indicator seemingly stuck at 90% or at 99% in some systems.
    2. System Cleaner does not always find all the possible temporary files for removal.
    3. If you do a full system cleaning with System Cleaner, and then run the scan again, it can still show more items to clean. This can repeat for many times, if not forever.
    4. System Cleaner can fail to detect some broken shortcuts.
    5. Some parts of the Settings window UI are not rendered correctly in all screen resolutions and application window sizes making some texts of check boxes invisible.
    6. The Check For Updates screen can display a blank screen on some systems.
    7. If you abort a system cleaning session, the checkbox about restarting computer remains visible on screen for a few seconds while the progress screen should only contain information that the operation was aborted. This is a cosmetic issue, but fixed now nevertheless.
    8. In some systems, starting the app or running the Initial Setup could cause Windows to display error message saying “This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer”.
    9. When a message box is shown, it will by default display the blinking text caret (cursor). It can look a bit confusing as to why there is one. It’s now fixed. You can still place the caret there by clicking the message box text with your mouse cursor and select text for Ctrl + C.
    10. Running jv16 PowerTools on a screen with a very small resolution (e.g. 800×600 px), the navigation panel can be drawn without any content (no icons) and no texts.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.0.0.1262 Beta (September 9, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1216

    Improvements:
    • Major improvements to the responsiveness and overall smoothness of the UI.
    • Major user interface improvements in both how the overall user interface looks like, but especially how easy it is to use.
    • Major reduction to the average time it takes to run the Initial Setup.
    • Entirely rewritten hard drive information area in the Dashboard now shows more detailed data.
    • Highly improved Settings window user interface.
    • Reduced the CPU usage of the Widget.
    • The legend popup panel will now automatically close in Widget after it has been visible for a few seconds.
    • It’s now possible to change the order of the dashboard content. And there is more freedom to choose what is displayed there.
    • The result list columns are now sized based on their content. And, if you don’t like this, you can also choose them to be equally sized. This option was added to Settings.
    Fixes:
    1. In some rare cases, running the System Cleaner can remove a non working AutoDesk licensing service module. This happens because the module is not working correctly. However, if it is removed, AutoDesk software will stop working and need to be reinstalled. While this is technically not a bug in jv16 PowerTools – it removes a non working service module from the system as designed – the issue is now fixed by ignoring such AutoDesk related services.
    2. Running the System Cleaner with the “Do not list temporary files which could be dangerous to delete” safety setting disabled (it is enabled by default), can damage Windows 10 Start Menu’s pinned tiles feature (which is also not enabled by default).
    3. System Cleaner can get stuck to the final “Please wait” phase. This bug is relating to many factors and does not happen often, but the more results are found, the more likely this was to happen.
    4. In rare cases, the “The scan took x seconds and found a total of z registry errrors” etc text in the System Cleaner results screen can contain wrong numbers. This could happen if the ignore list feature is used, and some found items were ignored but they were still counted as found errors – which is technically correct, but would be confusing for the user.
    5. Running the System Cleaner can get stuck to five or more minutes in some systems. This bug is relating to incorrect (read: slow) processing of certain type of data, only found on some systems. It should now be fixed, and the System Cleaner is also now faster overall.
    6. After returning to the Dashboard, there can be a delay of few seconds during which time the UI is not responding.
    7. The Dashboard and the Widget could sometimes show an incorrect icon for a running app. This was purely a cosmetic issue, but it’s now fixed nevertheless.
    8. Scrolling the Dashboard area up and down can cause the running apps list to flicker. This is also entirely a cosmetic issue.
    9. Dashboard and Widget app listing could show apps with “< 1%” and “0%” CPU usage which is both superfluous and potentially confusing.
    10. If you hide hard drives from the Dashboard view, it is required to restart the app to be able to see the hard drives again.
    11. Dashboard or the default view of tools can display a horizontal scroll bar, which is not visually very pleasing to see if not absolutely needed.
    12. Task Closer’s software column contains empty items, which is not visually pleasing. All cases of no software name are now filled with ‘(n/a)’ text instead.
    13. If you click the button to start a tool while it is already scanning, this will abort the scan which makes no sense. For example, if you click System Cleaner button from the menu, while System Cleaner is already scanning.
    14. The Dashboard and the Widget app can fail to display an icon of a running app, and instead an empty space is displayed.
    15. The result list search feature could become visible before the results, making the user interface to look confusing.
    16. Running the Finder after Duplicate Finder can cause the Finder results list to incorrectly include the Duplicate ID column. This is simply a left-over from running the Duplicate Finder and entirely a cosmetic issue.
    17. It’s possible that more than one instance of the app can be started at the same time, and if that happens, the app may simply close without an error message.
    18. The program could show an error message about Access Violation when closed.

    Beta version known issues:
    • In some systems, the app can either close by itself without any error message, or stop responding and then close. This is a rare issue that only affects some systems. In the systems this is happening, it happens quite often. In most systems, it never happens.
    • When the UI first starts, there can still be minor movement of the UI elements. For example, the content areas of Settings screen may not be correctly sized when it first opens, but they automatically re-adjust after a few seconds. This is a cosmetic issue, but annoying nevertheless.
    • Clicking the top right corner buttons to minimize or maximize the app window can cause the button color to incorrectly stay in the focused color.
    • The Windows 10 task bar progress for jv16 PowerTools can be different than that shown within the app itself.
    • Some of the graphics may look pixelated, such as the side image of the setup application and the scan progress indicator.
    • Check For Updates window UI does not look very nice, and can have partially missing texts.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.0.0.1274 (September 30, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1216

    Feature Improvements:
    1. Major improvements to the safety of System Cleaner, especially relating to ignoring data of installed software.
    2. Major improvements to the responsiveness and overall smoothness of the UI.
    3. Major user interface improvements in both how the overall user interface looks like, but especially how easy it is to use.
    4. Entirely rewritten hard drive information area in the Dashboard now shows more detailed data.
    5. Highly improved Settings window user interface.
    6. Reduced the CPU usage of the Widget.
    7. It’s now possible to change the order of the dashboard content. And there is also more freedom to choose what is displayed there.
    8. The result list columns are now sized based on their content. And, if you don’t like this, you can also choose them to be equally sized. This option was added to Settings.
    9. Improved the way the Dashboard scales to smaller app window sizes and screen resolutions.
    10. Check For Updates now shows the Change Log if a new version is available.
    11. Initial Setup information message now better explains what it does and why.
    12. Moving the app window will automatically close any currently open message boxes.
    Bug Fixes
    1. The program could randomly crash, that is, either show an Access Violation error message, or simply close itself without any error message. This was not a dangerous issue, that is, there was risk of damage to your system. The issues causing this have been now fixed, nevertheless.
    2. Running the System Cleaner with the “Do not list temporary files which could be dangerous to delete” safety setting disabled (it is enabled by default), could damage Windows 10 Start Menu’s pinned tiles feature (which is also not enabled by default).
    3. System Cleaner could get stuck to the final “Please wait” phase. This bug was relating to many factors and did not happen often, but the more results are found, the more likely this was to happen.
    4. In rare cases, the “The scan took x seconds and found a total of z registry errors” etc text in the System Cleaner results screen could contain wrong numbers. This could happen if the ignore list feature was used, and some found items were ignored but they were still counted as found errors – which is technically correct, but would be confusing.
    5. Running the System Cleaner could get stuck to five or more minutes in some systems. This bug was relating to incorrect (read: slow) processing of certain type of data, only found on some systems.
    6. After returning to the Dashboard, there could be a delay of few seconds during which the UI would not respond.
    7. Scrolling the Dashboard area up and down could cause the running apps list to flicker and use a lot of CPU time.
    8. Dashboard and Widget app listing could show apps with “< 1%” and “0%” CPU usage which is both superfluous and potentially confusing.
    9. If you hid the hard drives from the Dashboard, it was required to restart the app to be able to see them again.
    10. Dashboard or the default view of tools could display a horizontal scroll bar, which is not visually very pleasing to see if not absolutely needed.
    11. Task Closer’s software column could contain empty items, which is not visually pleasing.
    12. If you clicked the button to start a tool while it is already scanning, this would abort the already running scan which makes no sense. For example, if you click System Cleaner button from the menu, while System Cleaner is already scanning.
    13. The result list search feature could become visible before the results, making the user interface to look confusing.
    14. Running the Finder after Duplicate Finder could cause the Finder results list to incorrectly include the Duplicate ID column. This was simply a left-over from running the Duplicate Finder and entirely a cosmetic issue.
    15. It was possible that more than one instance of the app could be started at the same time, and if that happened, the app could have simply closed without any error message.
    16. The program could show an error message about Access Violation when closed.
    17. Using the result list search feature did not always work. Especially if you opened a tool, such as Software Uninstaller, wrote a search word, then close the tool and do it again, the second time the search would not start unless you hit the Enter key.
    18. Check For Updates UI looked bad, because it did not scale to larger window sizes and could contain clipped texts.
    19. Registry backups query box could be shown at awkward times.
    20. In Windows 10, the app’s progress on screen and the task bar progress could get out of sync, with the task bar progress showing a larger value than what is on the screen.
    21. The total RAM and CPU usage number did not always match the sum of the three sections displayed in the circular charts on Dashboard.
    22. The Languages menu could sometimes be missing from the main menu.
    23. The Dashboard did not scale properly after the app window has been maximized, or there was a delay of many seconds.
    24. On some screen resolutions, the Dashboard did not display any running app icons.
    25. The Dashboard and the Widget could incorrectly show a running Synaptics Device Driver as “Synaptics Device Dri”.
    26. System Cleaner could list non existing hkey_local_machine\driver\ keys as invalid.
    27. During the Initial Setup, the app could lose and gain focus many times, which caused unpleasant looking flickering.
    28. Clicking the top right corner app window buttons could cause them to remain stuck with the click color.
    29. The program could show information about a new version multiple times.
    30. The result list search bar could sometimes be shown below the buttons bar, even though the buttons bar should always be at the bottom of the window.
    31. The program window could fail to show up at all, if the screen resolution had been dramatically changed since the last time the app was last used.
    32. Using the selection features, such as Select All while the result list is being filtered, could cause the selected number in the application’s status bar not to be updated correctly.
    33. The Settings window could sometimes have incorrectly sized elements.
    34. Using the System Cleaner could in some rare cases cause file system issues to be picked up by Microsoft’s SFC utility. These issues are not actual file system errors, but cases where jv16 PowerTools corrects an error in a way that SFC utility disagrees with and therefore reports the correction by jv16 PowerTools as invalid. Since this could be confusing to users, we have disabled this form of error correction from jv16 PowerTools for the time being.
    35. In some rare cases, running the System Cleaner could remove a non working AutoDesk licensing service module.
    Known issues
    1. During the quality control for this version, we have also identified a few bugs in the new version. These are all cosmetic issues with no real user impact or risk and will be fixed in upcoming versions. These issues are:
    2. The progress indication of System Cleaner working, that is, actually cleaning the system, is not accurate. For example, it can remain at under 5% for some time, and then suddenly complete. This is simply a cosmetic issue, it does not mean that the cleaning failed or did not complete.
    3. The circular chart elements in Internet Optimizer may contain visual artifacts.
    4. The text of the circular progress element in the progress screen, such as when scanning the system, can be sometimes drawn to the left side of the screen. This issue is evident if the window is resized during the progress screen being visible.
    5. Sometimes the program fails to correctly fetch the icon of a running application, causing the CPU or RAM listing areas of the Dashboard to show either a missing or incorrect icon.
    6. In some screen resolutions or application window sizes, the top of the navigation menu does not have enough top margin.
    7. In some screen resolutions or application window sizes, some texts on the screen can be partially cut off due to not enough space.
    8. The top right corner panel buttons of the Dashboard can display incorrect color when the mouse cursor is over them.
    9. Lastly, the speed of the program can be slower than before, because of the additional safety checks and improved accuracy. We will address with more optimizations in the near future as well.

Maybe v7 will fix the issue with false positives, but I highly doubt it. You'd think that after 20+ years, they'd be able to make a safe registry cleaner.

They have for a long time now...I personally have never had an issue with what jv16 PT reports...so I suspect that it is down to individual systems and what is done to them, how it is done, etc.

But irrespective of that, I have tried many and jv16 PT is one of the very best & safest...again, IMHO.

It has only minor issue with false positives, so it most likely won't ever cause any major issues. But, it would be better if it had none.

More than 99% of registry cleaners have issues with false positives, so it's a common problem. But there are some which have pretty much zero issues with false positives. Considering how long JV has been developing registry cleaners, in my opinion, he would be should to do a better job.

Having said, of course you never actually need to clean the registry.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.0.0.1288 (October 21, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1274

    Feature Improvements:
    1. The Initial Setup, System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller scans now run on average 8% faster than before.
    2. The program now supports running the System Cleaner via command line parameter, either with or without showing the user interface. Also, an option to describe the command line based features was added under the Help menu.
    3. The main user interface is more responsive.
    4. The Windows Installed Apps feature will now show the complete version number for jv16 PowerTools, such as 7.0.0.1274, instead of just 7.0
    5. Running the System Cleaner scan or the Finder now shows more detailed information what is going on during the scan, such as which registry paths and directories are being scanned.
    6. The detection of installed software is now more accurate, which also improves the accuracy and safety of the System Cleaner. This is a general improvement, there were no cases of any damage to systems.
    7. Reduced the maximum width of message boxes for easier reading.
    8. The program now shows less prompts and warnings if being run within a virtual environment.
    9. Many translations updated.
    Bug Fixes
    1. The Dashboard’s hard drive listing did not honor the Ignore List. For example, if you added D:\ to the Ignore List, the D:\ drive would still be listed in the Dashboard and its content analyzed.
    2. Adding data to the Ignore List in Settings did not work properly. Trying to add new rows of data to the Ignore List could clear all the old rows from the list.
    3. Finder in Dashboard did not support searching with multiple search words using the | character separator. For example, “foobar | qwerty” should have searched with two search words, “foobar” and “qwerty” but this did not work correctly.
    4. Running the System Cleaner did not report its progress correctly, which could have caused the user to think that the operation failed. However, this was only a cosmetic issue relating to the progress screen, not to the actual system cleaning or fixing.
    5. The version number shown by Windows Installed Apps feature for jv16 PowerTools was still 6.x instead of 7.x
    6. The checkboxes to choose which data types to look for in Finder did not always have enough space to fully display their content in some screen resolutions.
    7. The main menu’s Help menu could have been entirely empty in some systems.
    8. In some screen resolutions or application window sizes, the top of the navigation menu did not have enough top margin.
    9. Main menu > Tools > Backups did not always open the Backups tool.
    10. In tool result lists with exactly two columns, the automatic column sizing did not always work perfectly, causing the column sizes to be set too wide.
    11. In the Dashboard the vertical position of the panel top right corner buttons was a few pixels off.
    12. The number of found items may have still been counted wrong in System Cleaner’s results screen, when comparing the numbers in the top text panel and the bottom left corner. This bug was mostly fixed in the last build, but in some rare cases it could still occur. This was purely a cosmetic issue, but it is now fixed nevertheless.
    Known issues

During the quality control for this version, we have also identified a few bugs in the new version. These are all cosmetic issues with no real user impact or risk and will be fixed in upcoming versions. These issues are:

    4. The top right corner panel buttons of the Dashboard can display incorrect color when the mouse cursor is over them.
    5. The scan progress circle line could be different in different tools, for example in System Cleaner compared to the Software Uninstaller.
    6. There is a typo the new Help > Command Line Parameters description text

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.1.0.1292 (October 28, 2021)
    Announcement
    Download
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1288

    Feature Improvements:
    1. Added a statistics panel to the Dashboard to show how much data has been cleaned with jv16 PowerTools.
    2. Running the System Cleaner could go by too fast in the case of not many items being cleaned, this makes it difficult to check or uncheck the ‘restart computer’ checkbox. This has now been addressed by ensuring the cleaning operation will take at least a few seconds. Also, the restart option will now be only automatically checked if the cleaning consists of over 100 items.
    3. The scan progress screen now shows the status of the program with more details.
    4. Improved the accuracy of detection of installed software, this enhances the performance of both System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller.
    Bug Fixes
    1. If you used Tools > Maintenance > Flush Caches, the Dashboard’s hard drive analysis will not run, before 24 hours has passed. That is, it will work the next day you run jv16 PowerTools. Therefore, a minor issue, but fixed nevertheless.
    2. The scan module view did not honor the Settings > General > ‘Show what item is currently being analyzed in the scan progress screen’. That is, if you had disabled this setting, the scan progress screen would still display the currently scanned paths per each module.
    3. System Cleaner’s Clean And Fix button did not have the blue border to symbolize it being the default action button of the tool.
    4. In some cases, starting the System Cleaner immediately brought up the scan progress screen’s ‘finalizing’ stage, which would stay on screen during the entire scan time instead of the actual progress screen. This was a cosmetic issue and did not affect the actual scan, however, it could seem confusing and could make you think the scan had frozen.
    5. The scan progress circle could have a different line width on different tools. This was purely a cosmetic issue.
    6. The Help > Command Line Parameters text contained a typo and it was not possible to translate the text. It existed in the translation file, but the app failed to load the translated version.
    Known issues

During the quality control for this version, we have also identified a few bugs in the new version. These are all cosmetic issues with no real user impact or risk and will be fixed in upcoming versions. These issues are:

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.3.0.1369 (February 24, 2022)
    Announcement
    Download
v16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1320

    Feature Improvements:
    1. New tool: File Wiper allows you to delete files in a way the files cannot be recovered with data recovery products.
    2. New tool: File Deleter allows you to delete locked and otherwise write-protected files.
    3. New tool: Web Blocker allows you to block ads and websites of specific types, such as social media websites.
    4. New feature: The program now supports password protection. You can now define a password in Settings and if you do so, the program will require a password input before it can be used.
    5. The temporary file cleaning feature of the System Cleaner has been fully re-designed and implemented. You can now choose exactly how you want temporary data to be cleaned within Settings > System Cleaner.
    6. Major improvements for the performance and accuracy of the Software Uninstaller.
    7. Major improvements to the overall user experience for example by having the user interface to better communicate to the user what is happening.
    8. Improved the user interface of the File Finder, Big File Finder and Duplicate File Finder for easier and faster use.
    9. Improved the overall responsiveness of the UI.
    10. Improved the way the category selection works in System Cleaner. Before, selecting or unselecting a category could cause a long delay with ‘please wait’ box covering the screen. This is now much smoother and there is no ‘please wait’ screen needed.
    11. Added an option to disable all tips and warnings from the app. This is now available in the Settings.
    12. Added an option to hide the navigation panel category texts. This is in Settings > General.
    13. Added an option to change the program’s language to the Settings. Previously, it was only available in the app’s main menu, but a key setting like this should also be available in the Settings screen. Now it is.
    14. Improved the support for smaller window sizes in the Settings screen.
    15. Changed the default configuration of the Software Uninstaller not to list built-in Windows apps or any Microsoft related products. This greatly improves the scan speed of the Software Uninstaller and in most cases, there is no need to list these anyway. The setting can be adjusted from Settings > Software Uninstaller.
    16. Improved the way the program works with smaller screen resolutions.
    17. Added support for scroll bar for the navigation menu. It will be visible only when needed, that is, the app window size being smaller than the space required to show all the navigation icons.
    18. Added an option to keep completed modules in the scan progress screen. This is now enabled by default. Previously, completed modules were removed from the screen which could have made following the progress of the scan more difficult to follow.
    19. Double clicking a results row in System Cleaner now opens the item’s registry key in RegEdit or folder in Explorer.
    20. Improved the sizing and scaling of the System Cleaner’s category selector.
    21. Improved the way the program communicates what it is currently doing to the user.
    22. The program now explains better if the Initial Setup needs to be run again. This needs to be done if the system configuration has changed too much since the time Initial Setup was originally run, for example, after a big System Cleaner cleaning session.
    23. System Cleaner’s category listing now uses the same font as the rest of the UI.
    24. Duplicate File Finder now supports finding duplicates of specific size and/or duplicate files that have not been modified within a given number of days.
    25. Improved support for systems with multiple monitors.
    26. Finder, Big File Finder and Duplicate Finder now remember the previously used search from paths.
    27. Dashboard’s CPU and RAM usage areas now display a color key legend in every screen size.
    28. Clicking any button of a message box now closes the box faster.
    29. You no longer need to click Close to end the installation process of the app, it now happens automatically.
    30. System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller now display a popup tooltip panel allowing you to read the long result text rows easier.
    31. Improved the detection of software left-overs in Software Uninstaller.
    32. The program now starts with a fade-in effect.
    33. Comes with improved Finnish, Dutch and Russian translations.
    Bug Fixes
    1. Cleaning the system with the System Cleaner could cause the cleaning process to complete so fast you cannot uncheck the ‘Restart computer when done’ option in the progress screen, leading to an unwanted system reboot. The process going to fast bug is now fixed, plus the Settings now contain an option to disable the restart altogether.
    2. Changing the search options in Finder, Big File Finder and Duplicate Finder did not always update the screen contents correctly without having to resize or maximize the application window.
    3. The dashboard could show an empty CPU usage value inside the circular element when the app starts.
    4. Going from Software Uninstaller to Uninstall Software screen and then clicking the Back button could cause the app to remain in ‘Please Wait’ stage until any new tool is opened.
    5. The program could start without properly initializing its main user interface until any tool is opened or the app window resized.
    6. Using the Dashboard’s Finder Panel’s top right corner button Right Click > Finder option to open the Finder tool, caused the tool open but with the UI incorrectly initialized.
    7. Scrolling the Dashboard’s list up and down immediately after the program had started, could cause the scrolling not to be smooth and the CPU usage to be high for a few seconds.
    8. In the My Account tool the Buy Now and Apply buttons could both sometimes display the default button frame, when naturally only one button should ever be the defined default button.
    9. Starting the Software Updater could have shown the Finalizing step too early, causing it to remain on screen for a long time while the tool is loading.
    10. The translations menu did not show the name of some languages, such as Japanese and Korean, in these languages, only in English.
    11. The UI of the Big File Finder did not scale very well for small app window sizes.
    12. System Cleaner results might not get automatically selected in some systems, even if the option was checked from Settings.
    13. The program could display an ‘integer overflow’ error message if the program was run in a system that had been running for over six days.
    14. The program could display an ‘access violation’ error message when started. However, this was a very rare bug and it was not system specific, meaning simply starting the program again would allow you to use the app.
    15. If you pressed Ctrl + S before the main program window was fully loaded, it could cause the app display an Access Violation error message.
    16. It was possible to double click the Clean And Fix All or Uninstall button of the Software Uninstaller while a confirmation message window was visible and this could lead to unexpected outcomes, such as an empty software uninstallation confirmation screen. This bug was entirely cosmetic.
    17. If the program was started on a non-English Windows, it would first start automatically in that language, then convert back to English and then back to the system language only when the main dashboard was shown after the Initial Setup.
    18. Software Uninstaller could list the same app twice, if it had a special character in its name. For example, ‘Forté Agent’ and a duplicate entry as ‘Forte Agent’.
    19. If you clicked the top right X button of the message box to restart jv16 PowerTools after changing its language, the app wouldn’t close or restart, but instead it remained on screen with possibly half translated UI.
    20. Clicking Software Updater from the main menu did not open the tool.
    21. Quickly clicking between Task Manager and some other tool could make the app to display only a blank screen and without any way to continue to use the app other than restart it.
    22. System Cleaner could display duplicate error categories in its categories listing.
    23. Fixed some typos from the English user interface.
    Known issues

During the quality control for this version, we have also identified the following bugs or issues in the new version. These issues were found in our testing but are not yet fixed. These issues are:
    1. The text of the circular progress element in the progress screen, such as when scanning the system, can be sometimes drawn to the left side of the screen. This issue is evident if the window is resized during the progress screen being visible.
    2. Sometimes the program fails to correctly fetch the icon of a running application, causing the CPU or RAM listing areas of the Dashboard to show either a missing or incorrect icon.
    3. Using the Dashboard’s Right Click > Finder option to open the Finder tool, causes the tool open but with the UI incorrectly initialized.
    4. Scrolling the Dashboard’s list up and down immediately after the program has started, can cause the scrolling not to be smooth and the CPU usage high for a few seconds.
    5. In the My Account tool the Buy Now and Apply buttons can both sometimes display the default button frame, when naturally only one button should ever be the defined default button.
    6. Starting the Software Updater may show the Finalizing step too early, causing it to remain on screen for a long time while the tool is loading.
All of the above issues are cosmetic and will be fixed in future versions.

    jv16 PowerTools Released – Version 7.3.1.1372 (March 2, 2022)
    Announcement
    Download
jv16 PowerTools Change Log Since b1369

    Feature Improvements:
    1. Added more mentions to the UI about the program using Windows scripts for data removal and that this is normal and nothing to worry about. If you see a big scary Windows Command Prompt when jv16 PowerTools is working or after the next system reboot, that is normal and nothing to worry about.
    2. The Software Update screen now highlights the ‘Download Update’ as the default action button if an updated version is available.
    3. The message box saying a system cleanup has completed now stays visible for a longer time. Before, it could automatically close too fast, which could leave the user thinking the cleaning somehow failed.
    4. Many small improvements to the accuracy of the System Cleaner and Software Uninstaller scans.
    5. Added an option to disable the killing of running apps to the Software Uninstaller. Uninstalling apps works better the less apps there are running in the background and this was declared by the app before uninstallation started. Yet, some users were surprised that apps were closed when something was uninstalled. Therefore, this is now made more clear.
    6. Added an option to disable automatic system reboot after system cleaning or software uninstallation.
    7. System Cleaner’s category listing panel now shows the found item categories sorted by their name. Previously the order was random.
    8. Software Updater tool is now hidden and disabled by default. We are considering to remove this tool as it requires constant updates and does not seem to be worth it. If you want the tool to remain, you should voice your opinion now.
    9. Updated the Widget’s Setting screen tabs to look the same as in the main app.
    10. Comes with many updated translations, including Dutch, Finnish, Polish and Swedish.
    Bug Fixes
    1. If the Windows system registry shared system file keys contain invalid data, this could lead jv16 PowerTools to list important system DLL or font files for removal. This only happened with systems that had invalid shared file registry data and was therefore a rare issue. So far, five users have reported this to have happened to them. Nevertheless, we wanted to release a quick fix for this issue.
    2. Some parts of the app’s UI were missing from the English.txt, making them impossible to translate.
    3. If the system was in idle, the jv16 PowerTools Dashboard and Widget would keep showing different apps using 1% of CPU but these apps were often changing order every few seconds. This made it annoying to read the CPU usage list. From now on, all apps using the same amount of CPU power will be displayed in the CPU usage list in alphabetical order.
    4. It was not possible to close some of the tip panels by clicking the X button at the top right corner of the panels.
    5. Leaving any of the confirmation boxes open for a long time started the automatic message box closing sequence. However, this incorrectly displayed the button captions.
    6. A message box could sometimes open behind the main app window, making it difficult to notice.
    7. Installing a new version of jv16 PowerTools over an older version could cause the Dashboard’s drive content information bars to remain gray.

    3. Scrolling the Dashboard’s list up and down immediately after the program has started, can cause the scrolling not to be smooth and the CPU usage high for a few seconds.
All of the above issues are cosmetic and will be fixed in future versions.
