What is your security setup these days?

No just one at the time, changing them from time to time.

 

Wouldn't it be easier and, above all, less expensive to use just one AV for one computer?

I also try different AV apps from time to time, just to find out what they are like these days, but I have always used KIS and cannot imagine myself using a different AV. I gave ESET a try the other day. It's not bad, but the GUI is a bit cluttered. Anyway, I went back to KIS after a couple of days. I'm back home now, so to speak.

No, no, Macrium and uBo are constants on my system, only AVs change
I will probably return to KIS in few days or a week or two so no worries.

It's been years and years my system has not detected anything that comes close to malware, all of the image restorations of my system (hundreds of them) were not about malware, if you are paying for security nowadays you are wasting your money, all that is really needed with windows 10 is a reliable backup system, the XP dangerous days are over. I'm not a safe internet user, I'll click on anything that I think is interesting and there has never ever been a detection alarm, whether using Kaspersky, Avira, or MS Defender. The only way I can think of getting infected is to intentionally google for malware to download on my system, but even then, a 3 minutes image restore would be quicker than making a coffee.

Kinda true, we all know, back in time, some of us got infected visiting a site got hosting by a malicious ad.
Symantec Endpoint Firewall, will block and notice, for example, malicious dns reroutes that no other firewalls cant do.

I think that web browsing these days is quite safe even if somebody is click-happy. Phishing is more of a problem than malware.
On the other hand look at Small office/home office (SOHO) or employees working remotely. They need to exchange e-mails containing attachments (or use cloud to do that) with people they do not personally know or even strangers if they want to acquire new customer.

 

I was one of the IT members in our company, with 10 computers. Then as I got to work there, any email with any attachment will be saved and the open it to online service viewer.
We do not click any attachment via "Thunderbird". I istalled Weboots script blocker.
Yes, we do have employees that actually knows about security. No happy email clickers here.

 

How is Symantec Endpoint Firewall? Isn't that geared more towards business?

As for me I had to restore a Macrium image last night. So currently just using.

Many malwares target to windows firewall based "firewalls", its easy to bypass during the boot stage.
How ever, when using third party firewall, that does nor rely on the windows firewall itself, i think its the safe to use it, because its not "targeted".

I like the look of hard configurator but am disappointed it doesnt utilise certificate matching. Although granted that has some risk in case cert's get compromised. But I would expect thats less risky than allowing executable's to run from temp folder. I expect I need to reread its documentation because I dont believe surely the recommended config mode for it gives free reign to executable's in temp folders.

How fast is HDClone.

5-6 minutes to create a full system image (without the empty sectors, there's an option to skip them) of an (almost) clean Windows 10 20H2 installation. About 10 GB. Takes a bit more to restore. Maybe 10-12 minutes.That's on a HDD, not SSD. I haven't tried the "fast copy" option, it could be faster.

P.S. I'm using version 6.0. There are newer versions that could be way faster.
