In this thread you can post all of your questions about Sandboxie Classic released by Xanasoft. So it's about David's fork and it's NOT about Sandboxie Plus which has its own thread(s).

I see what you're saying, Sandboxie Plus has the same core but a different GUI and a couple of extra features. So I guess it'a a matter of what type of problems people are reporting. Perhaps David should decide what's most handy for him, if he says this thread isn't needed, then it can be closed. At the moment I prefer to use Sandboxie Classic and it feels a bit weird reporting my issues in the Sandboxie Plus thread, it might also become cluttered.

It's my understanding there are three ACTIVELY USED versions of Sandboxie:
    1. The original carryover version from the tzuk/Invincea/Sophos era - version 5.33.6
    2. The more recently-developed "Classic/Fork" version, which currently is version 5.48.0
    3. And the Sandboxie Plus version with substantially newer architecture. I think that version is 0.7.1
With the help of Bo elam, I think I've properly identified those three versions above, and welcome any constructive clarification. But to that point, I can tell you as a longtime and faithful Sandboxie user, it's been a little hard for me to keep straight in my head all these different versions and which threads I should try to follow. I currently use version 5.33.6. It runs well on my computers so I see no reason to change for now. But someday, I might want to or need to change to another version. I think I'd be lost trying to figure out what thread(s) to reference to clearly understand my options.

So I agree with Rasheed187. In my opinion, it would be super helpful...especially for those of us who aren't able to visit this forum frequently...or for newcomers who aren't familiar with Sandboxie at all and want to learn more about it..if there were three clearly identified threads, one for each of the 3 versions.

More clutter and fracturing on "where to post", good job Rasheed. BTW, where can I post issues about 5.47.1? it feels a bit weird reporting my issues in the Sandboxie 5.48.0+ (not to be confused with Plus hurr durr) thread...

    Wrong. Very very wrong.

Sandboxie Classic and Sandboxie Plus are exactly the same architecture. They are just 2 different GUIs.

Oh my! Not only wrong... but "very very wrong"! Such drama, lol.
So, it sounds like you are saying classic and plus are exactly the same except for the user interface. Thanks for that clarification.

I was telling that to for over half a year by low LOL :D

Just use whats more appealing to you, same security, same compatibility.

Concluding from the last postings (DavidXanatos, Doodler, Buster_BSA):

The only difference between Classic and Plus is the user interface?

If the answer is yes: We should not forget that this seems to have an important impact on the range of features too. At least this is my conclusion from various postings by David himself:

    Just for example:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-sbie-fork.427755/page-30#post-2963705

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-0-5-5.435979/page-2#post-2984138

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-sbie-fork.427755/page-36#post-2969772

So I so would say that (at least in effect) the difference is not simply the user interface.

From this point of view (additional features in Plus --> possible additional problems/questions) perhaps two different threads for Classic and Plus could be justified. (?)

On the other hand: As the core components are the same in Classic and Plus, discussions about them would be spread over two threads. Something not so good.

So perhaps this would be the most straightforward solution (?):
Not sure what could be the best method.

And I have quoted three statements by David that indicate that it is not the only difference. (Or if you want to put it in an another way: The different user interface has more impacts than simply a different appearance.)

If you have a green bag with 5 apples within it and a blue bag with 5 apples and 2 peaches within it, it is not logical to declare: The difference is only another color of the bag.

I mean, what's so difficult to say: Classic and Plus have a different user interface and (as a consequence) the Plus version additionally offers certain features which Classic does not have.

To say that is nothing bad, no critics of Sandboxie or whatever, but it helps to clarify what the relationship between these two versions is.

Sandboxie is a software used to isolate applications from the system.

If Sandboxie Plus has a feature allowing to create snapshots and Classic doesn't, that doesn't change the purpose of the tool a bit.

An additional feature is an additional feature. It changes (expands) the functionality of a software. And this is more than a visual difference.

What's the bad thing to declare this?

The bad thing IMHO is this because it's misleading as we saw: "So it's about David's fork and it's NOT about Sandboxie Plus"

There is only one David's fork. You can use that fork with the classic GUI created by Ronen or you can use a new one created by David, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter the GUI you use because you are using the same fork.

So we give up logical distinctions only because a user (temporarily) misunderstood some terms?
O.K. But no one can deny that there are are two different versions (or builds?) (or whatever the correct expression may be) of this fork:
    - the Classic
    - the Plus

So why not declare their difference(s) in the correct way?

And as I see now, it was Rasheed187 himself who described them correctly after having read your posting:
    That's it!

The confusion was caused more by yourself (Buster_BSA) because afterwards you wrote
quoting something as it were written by Rasheed187 whereas in reality it was written by Doodler.

You referred to these sentences written by Doodler:
    You answered:
The first statement is correct as far as we know by David's explanations. The second one is not ("they are just").

And the problem is that so now you created a misunderstanding as poor Doodler adopted your explanation:
Unfortunately this was not the correct clarification. If we include your (Buster's) considerations about the fork, the correct description should be:

"There is only one David's fork. You can use that fork in two different versions (builds [whatever]): Classic or Plus.
Both have the same core / architecture. They offer same security and same compatibility. But Sandboxie Plus has a different GUI and a couple of extra features."

Please tell me if there is something misleading or even wrong in this description.

You can blah blah blah all you want. That will not change the fact this topic was started with next statement:

"In this thread you can post all of your questions about Sandboxie Classic released by Xanasoft. So it's about David's fork and it's NOT about Sandboxie Plus which has its own thread(s)."

This topic should be removed because it's misleading and it's completly unnecessary no matter if Plus GUI has extra features.

I tried to clarify some things (especially for you). To call it "blah blah" is quite impolite and only shows your lack of arguments.

Then take David's argument: "Just use whats more appealing to you, same security, same compatibility."

The key to understand why this thread is useless is that comment.

If anyone have an issue let's say with FireFox, the issue will be present both in Classic and Plus.

Reporting the issue in this thread would be out of logic.
