    @NiteRanger
There will be a "c" build soon that fixes that chrome and derivatives issue until then just ignore that message

also please remove that debug settings again for optimal security.

Ok, for some reason there has been a 2nd link-entry for Sandman in the C:\users\.....Startup-Folder which has been responsible for opening Sandman in a normal window upon re-boot.

    As for the installer-problem with non-standard installation-path:
The previous mask in the installer-dialogue where one could CHANGE the installation-path manually is still gone and missing!

Yet the newest release will at least detect the old installation-path automatically and install/upgrade over the previous version. So this time I finally have been able to successfully upgrade.

Still the question remains that - if no old installation is found - how then does the user change the installation-path away from "C:\Program Files"? From my perspective it would be necessary to bring back that previous mask in the installation-dialogue where the user could freely alter or adjust the main installation-path to a destination of his choice!

LOL I always get the smileys from the toolbar, as the edit doesn't autochange, but now of course it does. Of course : D instead of :-D

IC the classic GUI had this option. I never used or cared, as I use usualy the context menu start sandboxed. It even annoyed me and still never checked as SendTo is not much used anymore by me. In general, any program can be added like this to that menu, already since XP if I remember right. Just the place of the folder changed sometimes.

@DavidXanatos Suggestion: Once all the current urgent fixes are done, it might be good thing to add it to the plus GUI to keep the feature, as a per box option and as general option in the classic general. I would put then a radio button for this. Send To entries in explorer, None, All boxes, per box.
If you select by box, it will activate the box General Options to have Send To or not.

Another nice feature would be: General Options ->File Options-> File Migration to add a check, to allow the size to adapt automatic without confirmation, as an alternative to the manual one.

That was the exact same, what I had too. Entry in Registry, which is set and removed with Sandboxie autostart option and I had it in the startup folder and didn't recall doing this myself. Once removed it worked. (after I found that I one time disabled reg entry via TaskManager :) )
So maybe I really didn't create the startup one. mhhhh

I just installed Sandboxie Plus on Windows 8.1 and the latest Firefox is extremely slow and basically unusable. Also, "Delete Content" doesn't seem to work. It will shut down Firefox but it won't clear the Sandbox.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Update... It seems to be faster now. But it's not quite as fast as original Sandboxie. I still have the delete issue.

It was also easier to change the drive for the Sandbox folder in the classic GUI, but I preferred editing the .ini with custom paths for each sandbox anyways, instead of under "[GlobalSettings]".

@Survivor I try to trim down my right-click context menu as much as I can, especially if "Send to" is a viable option. Even though I have to redo it at least once every WIndows 10 version upgrade lol.

Do you have Firefox set as a Leader Program? I have to set Vivaldi (my default browser) as a leader program otherwise the sandbox doesn't empty upon close. Also make sure ''Automatically delete contents of Sandbox'' is ticked.

Yes, sandboxie on standard user (removed administrator group). But thanks to David's suggestion I've put FileRootPath with hardcoded User (FileRootPath=D:\Sandbox\HardCodedUserName\%SANDBOX%) for the sensitive sandboxes and the bug will no longer trigger, every program installed in the sandbox will run sandboxed.

Is there a specific uninstaller for sanboxie plus portable? I can't delete the files because it's open in Sanbox manager.

Open Sbie window, Select Sandbox (from top) then Default Box and move over to Sandbox Settings.
Scroll down to Program Stop and press + to see Leader programs. Click on it and type in the name of the program (for example Vivaldi.exe) select add program and click apply.

Still can't run Office 365 apps, particularly I need Excel, sandboxed. Have gone back to 5.33.6 and no joy even though it used to work ok. New sandboxie.ini created from clean install. Not an AVG issue as I tried with it disabled.

Some (most?) I know are not having a problem, but at least one other person has the same issue. What does the error message mean?

What can I do to try to resolve this? Anyone?

Correct, I have the same problem.

Today I was able to test Office 2019 (C2R) on a friend's PC and the problem does not occur. As already reported here.

Maybe Microsoft has changed something in Office 365/2016 (C2R) that has not yet been implemented for 2019 (C2R)?

Another person had reported that Office 2016 would work. However, since this is the "Professional Plus" version, I suspect it is a MSI version.

Edit: I have opened a separate thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...to-run-no-longer-works-with-sandboxie.435875/

No, I don't have it set for default. The reason being is when I install certain software it opens up Firefox and goes to a web page...bad for security. Now I have IE set as default but I have disabled IE's network so it can't access anything.

Anyway, I installed David's non Plus version and it deletes fine with the settings that I have but it's too darn slow so I just went back to the original. When I switch to Windows 10 I'll try it again.

A Question about Facebook and Sandboxie
Thanks, @Survivor. I was hoping for better news, but expecting your answer. My wife has read it and is of course disappointed --- and in particular, VMs and onion are out of the question for her. We could wait for the US government to regulate their tech companies properly, but the recent behaviour of Twitter et al would indicate that on the contrary the tech companies are becoming the government.

And here is a test build testing some changes, please let me know if it works fine for you, no BSOD's or alike. If any major issues appear you can always return to the previous build.

    Test Build (5.46.3) Changelog

    Changed
    • improved access tracing, removed redundant entries
    • OpenIpcPath=\BaseNamedObjects[CoreUI]-* is now hardcoded in the driver no need for the template entry
    • WindowsFontCache is now open by default
    • refactored some IPC code in the driver
    Fixed
    • fixed creation time not always being properly updated in the SandMan UI

I had just managed to get 0.5.4c installed and working fine on my other laptop (previously it didn't behave well) It was a clean install.

When I saw the 0.5.4d build I tried asking for update from the GUI (check for updates)
I didn't get the 'cannot reach server' error anymore (you must have fixed that) instead it said there wasn't any for Plus and it was up to date :)
So I downloaded 0.5.4.d and installed over the top. No issues so far.

A little request.. can you put the letters after the build number on your downloads page e.g. x64 v0.5.4 d.exe
It is getting confusing to know what you are downloading at times.

    Yes just added the letters

I need to make the update script smarter to have more than one latest version i.e. people on older versions should get 0.5.4c but and nod d while people with d shouldn't be offered c

At the moment, both Classic and Plus builds (they are on different machines) are working really smoothly and without issues for me.
Stop Programs and File Recovery setting work very well at the moment.

Installed the latest test build on one of my vm's, it seems that you forgot to remove WindowsFontCache template from individual sandboxes. I keep getting
12:31:21.825 SBIE1411 Sandbox DefaultBox specifies unknown template WindowsFontCache
I had to go and comment the template in sandboxie.ini
Plus on an existing older installs i've got template missing for FireFix_for_Win7, but that got fixed by going into UI- options - global settings - software compatibility and apply. so that all missing templates get updated also in the globalsection of the ini.
I'll report back if i find other problems.

Also I'm still amazed on how fast was sandboxie to open programs on windows versions prior to 1909 compared to 20H2. But that's windows for you... always changing...

After installing your c build over the previous one it's still not working

Takes forever to open DDG homepage

    No yellow border

Dark Reader is still the same as page 25 post #625
