I just read a HowToGeek article that advocates moving the taskbar to the left-side of the screen, instead of leaving it at the bottom. It's super easy to move the taskbar so I gave it a try. Hey, I think I like it! So I'll leave it that way for a while & then decide.

Putting the taskbar on the left or right side does make a bit of sense when surfing the net -- mainly because websites scroll vertically. Thus, moving the taskbar to the side gives almost the same effect as doing F11 (full screen) but keeping the taskbar still visible.

I'll be interested to see what others think about this pithy subject.

I cannot imagine myself moving the taskbar away from the bottom of the screen, but this is just me.

I never really like it. Since I'm left-handed, and inclined to the left more easily, I have other app like email and IM on the left side. Having the taskbar on the right just seems odd to me, since I have two monitors. I like to put the taskbar at the top of my screens, with browser tabs preferably on the bottom. It works best that way with taskbar replacements, like True Launch Bar.

I always hide it, moving mouse to show it on the bottom. I'd like not to show even those open programs (vivaldi, xyplorer now).

Yes, I also hide it, it irritates me. I position it on the top and have had it this way for literally years. Tried it on the left recently, and I could adapt to that except that all my desktop shortcuts are also to the left and it gets a little busy and unbalanced in that area. So it stays top-most but any docker is at the bottom. A half-inch of screen "real estate" is negligible for me.

And me :D Auto-hidden as always. I've tried the top, but I don't like the browser tabs blocked.

Hmmm... okay, I shall give auto-hide a try after I've tried left-side for a while. I enjoy messing around. :isay:

Anywhere but on the bottom just looks weird to me.

Same over here, since Windows 95 it has stayed on the bottom, this is the best position IMO. And that's why I also never understood why all browsers except for Vivaldi don't offer an option to put the tabs-bar on the bottom of the screen, even Firefox removed this option. And BTW, I would never hide the Win Taskbar, it's just too damn handy.

Taskbar is here on bottom, but i use most "IconGroup" with groups of my favorite programs (it's free for Windows).

for my browser all tabs are on top, above address bar. if devs had made it below address bar, i dont care where. for selection tabs in firefox/chromium in the taskbar the taskbar has advantage when on bottom.

Yes exactly, it's insane that only Vivaldi offers this option. Probably because they designed their own GUI, it's not a standard feature in the Chromium framework it seems. I always like my browser-tabs in the bottom, most likely because of Windows where the taskbar is also on the bottom, and it makes the most sense IMO.
