    Hi Everyone,

According to AdGuard, "AdGuard is the best way to get rid of intrusive ads and online tracking, and to protect your computer from malware". If I'm already using ESET Internet Security on my Windows PCs and Sophos Intercept X on my Android devices plus integral ad-blocking on Vivaldi browser (Windows and Android) plus ProtonVPN again on Windows and Android, do I genuinely need AdGuard? This is all getting very confusing.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

hey, j. adguard paid blocks ads not only in browsers but also in apps you run on your devices. but the free version works as a fw and also blocks ads in browsers. but you can't run adguard along with a vpn because it creates a local vpn connection so that it can run on your android device. when you run a vpn app, ag gets temporarily disabled. i wouldn't say you definitely need ag paid but you should definitely use ag free on your android device just because of its fw control.

Well, you could run adguard (paid?) as a proxy like I do. That way it won't interfere with a vpn connection.

You can if you run AdGuard adblocker along side AdGuard VPN. They are designed to work side by side so you can have the best of both worlds.

Of course then you're stuck with one or the other.

    Hi Folks,

Thanks a lot for the useful feedback.

I could mix 'n' match as I'm limited to five simultaneous connections with ProtonVPN. Between my wife and myself, we have Android and Windows devices. The Windows PCs could use up three of the simultaneous ProtonVPN connections. That would leave just two ProtonVPN connections, which could be used on two of our Android devices.

The remaining Android devices could then run AdGuard + AdGuard VPN. I don't mind opting for the paid versions. AdGuard appears to be based on Marcel Bokhorst's NetGuard Android firewall as is an Android app known as Tracker Control, which is also very useful.

Even when devices are not being used, I prefer that they contine to be connected to the Internet via a VPN.

    Hi Folks,

Is there an Idiots' Guide to AdGuard? I was just taking a look at it having installed it on my Windows PC. AdGuard has more bells and whistles on it than a group of bell-ringers and a dozen steam trains! Now, I'm no stranger to technology and science. I have a degree in electronics but AdGuard is in danger of giving me a headache.
