It indeed behaves strangely. I noticed that the reconfiguration repeated 2 hours after the last reconfiguration. I tend to remove KB4586853.

I haven't noticed this myself pegas.
Did the install of the KB go smoothly when you did it?

Yes, without a single issue. No errors. You have PM.

Oh, I was responding to the post saying that KB4586853 is coming up on Patch Day for the release version. Should've used the "quote" function, sorry about that.

Is it that your apps are re-arranged from how you had set them up on the screen? Either way, your comment of uninstalling the KB prob. isn't a bad idea.

Could Eset have caused a problem I wonder.
Perhaps uninstall.. resinstall might confirm the issue.

I have checked the list of events of ESET Endpoint Security and the event times don't match with the times of apps reconfiguration. I guess that it's a WU process that triggers the reconfiguration.

No, the reconfigured apps appear intact. As I already wrote if I wasn't used to checking the reliability monitoring I wouldn't even know that the reconfiguration has been done.

Yes, that's the issue I face to. However I don't have a HP machine (my is Acer) and in my case the reconfiguration doesn't occur at boot but during a day after boot. For instance today I booted my machine at 6:44 o'clock, 1st reconfig happened at 7:15, 2nd reconfig at 8:38 and 3rd (last) reconfig at 10:31. Now is 15:21.

EDIT: I just removed the KB in question, so will see ...

Just a general comment, yesterday I played with Win 10 for the time, and it's not that bad. But I was a bit shocked to see all of the processes and services that were running, seems like Win 10 has become too complex. And I hated the Start Menu, luckily this is easily fixed with Open Shell. I also don't like it that Win Defender doesn't have a "normal" GUI like other AV's. But anyway, I still need to tweak Win 10 a bit more. Do you guys recommend using a tool like O&O ShutUp10, or will it only cause problems?

This sounds like an interesting idea, I hate working on my smartphone, but sometimes I do need to use certain Android apps.

I've been having very specific issues with it populating data grids on data driven software seemingly 1 line at a time, exponentially slower than previous builds. I figure they must have some kind of debug processes running.

To clarify, I don't think I'm running the same Win 10 version as you, it's whatever version was already installed on my new laptop. I also haven't connected it to the network yet, because to my surprise laptops don't have any ethernet ports anymore, what a joke. But anyway, I'm planning to disable Windows Update, don't try to fix things that aren't broken is my approach.

It's a plague. Laptops without CD/DVD drives. Laptops without ethernet ports. What else? No power cord? No drive?
Rasheed, I think I read you've got some Lenovo box. Check this out:

Also Amazon is full of these gadgets. I have no idea if they're good. Haven't needed one yet.
I did use one such on an old Toshiba tablet - it worked well.

Wow, no Ethernet port. I thought it was bad enough mine didn't have an optical drive.

Just click on the Windows flag bottom left of taskbar and immediately type winver and click on what comes up (no need to enter the word into a box or anything as windows does it all auto-magically for you.)

It didn't help. I give up unless it somehow affects performance of my machine what luckily isn't the case. No boot up issues as described in #6232 nor negative influence on the reconfigured apps.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still shocked by the amount of processes that are running on Win 10, a whopping 177. With lots of svchost.exe processes, I truly think this is ridiculous. I will see if I can trim it down a bit. On the other hand, performance of the Lenovo laptop seems to be quite good. Windows Explorer still kinda sucks, for some reason it won't always remember my "view" and "group by" settings.

Yes thanks, I already bought the TP LINK UE300 adapter, works quite well.

Turns out that some 15 inch gaming laptops still have them. But you won't find them on most 14 inch laptops, what a shame. So apparently they think all laptop users should be using WIFI, this is nonsense every computer should have an ethernet port. BTW, I'm also not impressed with the 1920*1080 resolution, it's unhandy everything looks so small and certain apps look kinda blurry.

BTW, about Win 10, how to know for sure that Windows Update is disabled? And is there a way to disable Win Defender without having to install another AV?

Thanks will check it out. It's not that I dislike Win Defender AV or anything, because so far it seems to perform quite good, it's just that I prefer to disable realtime scanning. I see that luckily you can also scan files on demand with WD. Would you also recommend O&O ShutUp10? I'm afraid it might break things and I doubt if you can block telemetry in Win 10 in the first place, even with tweaking.

Don't know too much about ShutUp 10. I've read many good user reviews about it but never have tried it myself as I run Insider builds and you're required to have Full (Optional) Telemetry enabled.

I looked at the link, it sounds great, it's compatible with 20H2 and it's free. But if I was to run it, I would look for the downside/s if any, first. It looks pretty potent.

Thanks, and I see it's possible to restore settings in O&O ShutUp10. To be honest, I don't think I will be spending much time on my new Lenovo laptop. I don't really like the 1920*1080 resolution, some apps look blurry, do they need to be re-designed for higher resolutions? I have always worked on a 1280*1024 screen. And I also don't believe that Win 10 is a huge improvement over Win 8, perhaps under the hood yes, but Windows Explorer and the Win Taskbar should be more easy to configure.
