It has been repeatedly mentioned in this thread that a dedicated anti ransomware program is not necessary, and I fully agree with it, especially if you are a private average user with no public info about having a huge bank account. These guys will put their energy and risks only into known ventures that can afford to pay a reasonable price, hence most targets are councils, municipalities, big corporations, hospitals, etc. As a private average user, I keep my personal sensitive stuff away from my main computer, I backup daily to drives that are only connected during the backup operation, and I also trust to a certain extent the efficacy of MS Defender. I also use a virtualizer (Shadow Defender) which has been tested successfully to withstand any changes by encryption and return the system to its original state (it is a general protection against any unwanted changes, albeit not free).
