BTW, latest update: Private Eyes is crap just as expected. I'm currently giving neXt on FOX a try, it's a serie about AI gone wrong. I will also watch Industry (from BBC and HBO), it's a serie about stockbrokers. But the end conclusion is that TV series in general, not only "Netflix Originals" are all crap.

Have you checked out The Queen's Gambit? It's actually excellent. I just completed watching the series a few nights ago.

Thanks for the tip, but it's not for me. I guess I will just have to accept that most series are crap nowadays. ;)

Nick Baker, streaming and TV expert at Uswitch, said: "Netflix has been a lifeline for many people during lockdown, so this price rise is an unwanted extra expense for households feeling the financial pressure.
"It’s unfortunate timing that this price hike coincides with another national lockdown, when all of us will be streaming more television and films than ever."

    Translation:

"Netflix has been a lifeline for many people during lockdown, so this price rise is a blatant exploitation and extra expense for households feeling the financial pressure.
"It’s wilful manipulated timing and deliberate that this price hike coincides with another national lockdown, when all of us will be streaming more television and films than ever and therefore vulnerable to scheming pirates like Netflix."

    Fixed that.

They have to make up for the subscribers they lost that were offended by their programming. I expected them to raise the price to offset the loss.

Yeah, because Netflix just doesn't make enough money as it is. Still, it's another excuse to eventually hike their prices. Keep on going Netfleece and you'll lose me as a customer.

If your going to use Netflix just pay for it, don't be a scammer by sharing passwords. Why would anyone get angry because they are stopping people from stealing from them?

Depends on your definition of 'steal'. A pointless price hike could fall into that category.

I am certainly not in favour of big corporations gouging their customers which seems like most do, but if you want something, you should pay for it. I assume the more people steal, the more the prices get hiked.

Sharing passwords IMHO is not stealing, but it is form of abuse of service.
We also don't know whether it is Netflix initiative or rest of movie industry (major film studios, various associations) is pushing Netflix to do this.

Or; the more prices get hiked, the more people steal. I'm with reasonablePrivacy on this. It's not technically stealing anyway as Netfleece actually allow more than one account. Albeit in the same household. Although I'm a bit puzzled why geographical location of the shared account is the problem.

When they raised the monthly subscription, I expected improved new content. Instead it's been mostly garbage.

It absolutely is stealing, your using their service without paying for it.

Its simple guys, if you like it and use it, then pay for it.

If you don't like then don't use it.

Don't use it, even though you dislike it, but will use it anyways cause your stealing it.

Yet Netfleece allow you to have multiple profiles. How important is it that those profiles have to be used in the same geographical location? Surely by the same logic anyone with a profile in the same household is stealing streaming if they are not the actual account holder.

I fully agree, I don't understand why people are complaining about this, they want a free lunch but life doesn't work this way.

It obviously does work that way though if Netflix allows multiple profiles. The lunch isn't free it's paid for by the account holder, so your argument is not cogent and makes no real sense (no change there then lol).

Does it really matter that the account holder has allowed someone who doesn't live under the same roof access to a profile?

There is no free lunch here, or even a free light snack between meals. The Vegemite sandwich has been paid for by the account holder.

In my view it does matter, purely from a business point of view. But I'm not an expert on this topic, I'm not sure how Netflix monitors this stuff. I suppose if you pay for 2 streams then it shouldn't matter if some friend is using your account, because it's allowed to watch Netflix from anywhere if I'm correct.

That still doesn't make sense to me. There's one holder of the account with Netflix. I pay monthly whether I watch it or not. However Netflix allows multiple accounts principally for other household users.

Half the people I know who have Netflix accounts can go weeks without watching anything on Netflix. Netflix are raking it in as it is.

It's also worth pointing out that most of the people I know who have Netflix accounts allow friends/relatives to stream on their accounts even when those friends/relatives don't actually live with them.

I have no idea how Netflix would monitor multiple geographically different users on one account anyway.

"Netflix Lost 31% of Market Share in the Last Year as Streaming Rivals Gained Ground

After a year in which streaming became even more important to millions of Americans, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, Netflix still dominates the streaming universe in the U.S.

But new data shared by Ampere Analysis with TheWrap shows that while Netflix holds 20% of the U.S. streaming market, its dominance over the rest of the streaming landscape has shrunk from 29% — a drop of nearly one third– as more services enter the market..."
