My brokerage account (retirement account) requires that I have antivirus on my Mac. Is there any data on Norton AV? I installed it recently without any issues but I would like to know how good they are.
Not much in the way of posts on comparisons. And not much available in the way of comparisons. https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-macos/ It seems OK for what is available, though personally I would opt for Avira or Bitdefender.
I bought this Mac almost 5 years ago. Running macOS El Capitan 10.11 I installed Webroot for Mac. It ran very good. I ran Webroot with the upgrade to macOS High Sierra 10.13. The scans started getting longer. Then upgraded to macOS Mojave 10.14. More bugs with Webroot and very long scans. I would not recommend Webroot for Mac at this point. I decided to give Malwarebytes for Mac a try running Mojave with Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox and Chrome. There isn't a Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Safari. I haven't had any problems with Malwarebytes and now I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15. I'm going to wait until the next update for Big Sur to come out before upgrading to Big Sur. I've been running Malwarebytes for Mac over 2 years now without any problems. The choice is yours but I would: Check the Security Software Forums that you pick and see if they are having any problems running Catalina or Big Sur. If they are having problems, are they fixing the problems and how long for a fix? Some companies take forever for a fix, and some don't fix at all, they just say they are working on a fix. Very Important: Make sure there is a Mac Developer dedicated to Mac's at the company you pick. Make sure the Mac Developer / Expert is active on their forum. Look at how many Unanswered Questions for Mac are on their forum. Norton has too many unanswered questions on closed threads for me. Make sure you can do a Full Uninstall without leaving any files behind of the Security Software you pick. I don't know about Norton but Webroot you will need to contact their Support by phone so Webroot could do a remote to your computer which is a PITA. Webroot will not give you their Sudo Commands to do a full uninstall. HTH, Good Luck.
So I tried Norton. I kept getting some kind of messages to block connections. No information except a bunch of numbers and letter. I go ahead and went with Avira. Should I buy pro version?
